Im no expert so I wanted to ask a question. I found a 6 inch exhaust for sale but the seller says it was cut off by accident when he had it removed and would need welded back together. If welded back would it impact the performance or sound of the exhaust? Thank you for the help.

Sounds stolen, but it won’t make a difference if it’s welded or not

That’s pretty weird, pictures would help.

Yeah that sounds SUS :spy: I can't imagine how an exhaust can be accidently cut off.

How much is he asking for it?

But also you could stick your head inside a 6" exhaust. I thought those were just for coal rolling diesels

I mean exhausts are made from cut/welded metal.

Call your local muffler shop and ask them how much t would cost to weld back...I'd guess around a hunskie

If you post pictures, I'm sure @dirtydeeds will chime in.

With dirtydeeds exhausts the measurement is the length of the muffler, not the pipe diameter.

Tell him you'll take it without the tailpipe for half the price then have an exhaust shop dump it.

To answer your original question, yes that can be welded together. Take that clamp off and all you gotta do is take the tailpipe and small piece after the clamp to an exhaust shop.

Alternatively depending where you live you can easily find perfectly good tailpipes on FB marketplace or OfferUp

That's the stock pipe that was cut. The DD muffler is intact. This is a pic from DD's website. Notice that it ends right after the two pipes join.

The little circle is where the DD joins the stock tailpipe with a clamp. You don't need the cut part because it's the same as the stock pipe already on your truck, BUT you do want the resonator.

Looks like he couldn't get the V-band clamp off and just cut it idk. The stock one does seize up, I had to wrench the bolt and snap it so I could replace the clamp. Shop could weld that back in 5 minutes,

Yar this one is good to go and it’s not the 07-09 version either. Assuming its not over like 500$ or so.

D'Oh! :facepalm:Totally forgot he most likely already has his stock tailpipe so no need for searching for a replacement.

OP, this is a perfectly good DD exhaust you came up on. Just negotiate a good deal with the seller and your good to go. You'll just need to get new flange gaskets. I believe Felpro is recommended(found at most auto parts stores).
