Hello all first time poster, recently new reader of the forum. Just bought a 2011 4.6 2wd with about 98 thousand on it. Check engine came on a day after swapping the title (kicking myself for not driving it further during the test drive). Secondary air injection pump failure that threw the truck into limp. Some buddies and I replaced the pump and I thought that was the end of it… a day later codes for both pumps came on. I’m struggling with what to do next for this. I’m aware of the bypass kit but I’m headed to Guam Which requires emissions. I’m wondering if replacing the air injection driver will solve my problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Codes were P2447 and P2445. Doesn’t really make sense though that I’m getting codes for both pumps. One is brand new and the other looked to be in good condition (most likely swapped by the previous owner.)

A few things could be off.
    1. Bad pressure sensor(s)
    2. Air tube going from pump to switching valve is either pinched or has a hole
    3. Electrical connection

you could remove the pump and give it some voltage to see if it works

It is common for one or both of the Air Injection Pumps to go bad. There are three components to this system. Two pumps (located under the right front fender) and a valve assembly located under the intake manifold. Error code 2445 is one or both of the pumps, 2447 is the valve. Not uncommon for them to go within a relatively slight period in between. I initially used some pumps I ordered through Amazon.com, however, they didn't work. Frustrated with trying to find TWO pumps (one went bad, so I replaced both as precautionary), nobody around her had them. I ended up having to get both from my Toyota dealership (around $600 each!). I (DYI) put them in and so far, everything is running great! (Pretty easy job) I anticipate the valve assembly going out, but I am waiting until it throws a code before undertaking the task of pulling the manifold. YouTube is your friend if you want to save a lot of $$$ doing it yourself. Take your time, take a lot of pictures with your phone, and lay out all your tools before you begin.
