Hey all, I have a 2020 tundra platinum that the remote start only will not work ive tried everything I feel. it is weird because the lock and unlock functions work as normal, when trying start I get an error code on the app and that's it. I have checked both fobs as well as windows and etc rolled up locked and all the other stuff Toyota suggests. any ideas on what to check or try. 8 years helicopter mechanic so I understand most mechanics and wiring but this is getting me stumped.....

P.S I have not found any previous threads on my exact issue just similar that were what I stated I already tried.

Are you currently subscribed in the app too? Are you trying to remote start with a fob and getting an error on the app at the same time?

Yes i have the app subscription and tried via app and that’s when i get an error code for remote start only. Neither key fob will work either and new batteries in both just in case.

Did the FOB ever work? How long have you had the truck?

I have had the truck for 2 years. I did not know about the Toyota app and start options. Just recently found out and idk if the fobs ever did work.

When the 2020's first came out there was an issue with this. I had to deal with it. I had to contact the Toyota engagement center (1800-331-4331) ref. the app and fob problem because it was all tied together. If I remember correctly there was a software glitch that had deactivated that feature and they had to push a fix to the vehicle via the auto update in the head unit. If that didn't work, you had to go to the dealer to get a fix done via hardline. It took a couple of days to get it sorted out, but it did get fixed via the push to the head unit and I didn't have to go to the dealer. Both the fob and the app have worked for me ever since.

Just of note, be a little patient with them. I say this because it could take a little while to get it sorted because the connected services is not Toyota's, it actually OnStar.

Also, just for information, the platinum and the 1794 (which I have) are considered the same trim level by Toyota for that year. Included in that was the upgraded premium audio system that provided 10 years of fob remote start support. I've attached the brochure that came with my 2020 for you if you want it.

Does the three pushes of the lock button method work?

If you have the app, the remote start will only work if your truck is locked fyi

It locks it automatically if it is unlocked and then starts it.

Mine will not lock automatically, it pops up and says command failed. I have to make sure mine is locked to start
