You're wrong though :D That big radius on the front of the camper was very intentional. C/D numbers are obviously higher than stock with the increased frontal area, but there are great air flow characteristics. The flatbed serves as some what of a boat tail too!

I went to Terlingua earlier in the year and averaged very high teens, I don't remember the specific number but I want to say 17-18 mpg? I dig that post up later.

Needs to come back to a wedge like point as the trailing edge to allow the air to come back together. Otherwise, drag.

I wasn't thinking about the hull of a sailboat, I was thinking about the sails:rofl: An upside down sailboat hull would probably make some killer mpg!

In the side. Not the top. You don't have to drop the tank to replace the pump, just drain the tank.

Air gets trapped in the bed and forms kinda like a bubble for air to go over the bed. That's why beer cans....I mean coke cans in the bed with fly forwards, come up, then fly to the back. Caps and leaving the tailgate down reduces mpg.

I'm all about the sleeper my friend. A side from the GLI being 20mm lower than a factory Jetta there's no indication it makes 400 HP. No loud BOV, no AWE growling 4 banger track exhaust. Just a full 3" Billy Boat TBE with a 300 cell cat, resonator and muffler. I still even have the factory turbo muffler on my turbo. Hell my MKiv GLI VR6T I built I made to look like an 04.5 GLI 1.8 T and the would go and beat up on M3s and mustangs. Even had a flat black FMIC and charge piping. Only ever got caught by 1 guy, and he drove a MKiv R32 GTI. Sleepers are where it's at.

Do you remember on Trucks! When they used to advertise a motorized tailgate that you could flip a switch and it would tilt a little, to make like a ducktale spoiler?
