Can I use 75w-85 for the transfer case?

So I have 2 gallons of redline 75w-85 GL-5 that I am going to do the diffs with here at the 60k mile mark. Any reason I would specifically need to get straight 75w for the transfer case, or can I use the 75w-85?

from all the research I’ve done here before the quick answer is it’s not the same as just the straight 75w specified. I plan to do mine soon with the cheaper ravenol 75w brand you can get on Amazon. Some people had success with gear oil but some haven’t.

Use Redline MT-LV for the transfer case.

 

Also used MT-LV. T Case operation has been instant.

 

Past 2 transfer case oil changes, I’ve only spent money on Ravenol 75W. Unless if you’re changing it regularly or do a lot of heavy off roading, then I’m sure guys who off-road often can suggest a good 75W.

Front and Rear diffs, I use Mobil1

$39 75W-90 GL-5 Limited Slip, Ultra Long Drain 500k Miles, Manual Transmission, Gear/Differential Lubricant (1 Gallon)

75W-90.

 

I used Ravenol 75W for the TC and Redline 75W-85 for the diffs.
Purely anectodal, but going in & out of 4H seems to be faster than before, just takes a sec or two.
Bought the Ravenol gear oil directly from their website (www.ravenolamerica.com) and the Redline gear oil from Amazon.

 

I use it too and have absolutely zero issues
