Just got home from a road trip vacation to the beach and went to vacuum the sand our of the carpets/mats and discovered my passenger floor was soaked. I'm guessing A/C drain line plugged but...

I took it in to toyota for warranty work ( replace passenger front shock) and they want over 2k to attempt to fix, said they need to drain and refill the ac system find the leak or blockage etc. Anyone have similar experience and can offer some advice? I just bought the truck in December and it has the bumper to bumper warranty which they say doesn't apply. Tbh I'm thinking of trying to clear the drain on the ac and if that doesn't do it, trade the damn thing in on another truck. If I wanted $2k repair bills I would have kept my 04 silverado

Run a piece of wire or compressed air through the condenser drain line and see if it fixes it. It exits right above the transmission, you'll see what looks like an open rubber grommet in the floor pan of the truck.

Fixed, or atleast I think so. Piece of foam was blocking the end of the line behind tgat silly grommet spout. I found getting at those 10mm nuts with a box wrench from the passenger side worked best. Had maybe a cup or 2 of water come out when I took the gromet/spout off. Had to rip the foam piece out. I cant/refuse to believe toyota doesn't know this is a problem and would look to get 2k to fix it, if anybody knows how to return or cash out the extended warranty I'd appreciate the info, I didn't pay this kind of $$ to be wrenching on stuff after work.

Can you highlight where the drain is in your picture?
    Just curious for future reference.

20-21 Rav4s have a recall on them for this very issue. My step daughter just had it done on her 21 that had wet passenger floorboard.
    Foam blocks the evap drain.

It’s not common enough on Tundras for a recall, and the $2k estimate from a dealer is just classic dealer shenanigans.

Good work on getting it done yourself.

I have this issue on my 2020, but not as bad. I’ve cleared it, but it is definitely blocked by something. I’m going to take mine off and see if the foam is there.

As far as I can tell it is a combo of idiotic engineering and faulty assembly. The gasket must have moved before they tightened those 10mm nuts, and why they engineered it that way is anybody guess.

I'm still angry about it, I perhaps foolishly thought that by buying a fairly new truck with the build quality reputation that comes with the Toyota and with the extended super duper warranty that I would be preventing outrageous repair bills and me having to get under the truck atleast until it was paid off. As it stands they got me for just over $300 to tell me "yes everything is wet, we would like you to authorize another $23xx.xx for us to find out why, this may not fix the issue" I told them the damn floor was wet, and that it was likely the ac drain hose that was blocked. If for the $300 they had done what I did in about an hour I might not be real happy about it, but I wouldn't be on here complaining.

That said it cost me $300ish to find out I can't trust them, probably gonna save me much more going forward. Plus I'm gonna cash out the extended warranty, if I can't trust you I don't want you working on my truck. I'll do it myself.

Exactly why I didn’t opt to extend the warranty. All the dealers in my area are super shady. I’d rather work on my truck myself.

Amen brother. I have yet in life to EVER pay for ANY extended warranty for a vehicle or anything else. Too many BS stipulations. I know some folks that made out great by having them but I know far more that have gotten shafted. I’ve been working on my own vehicles since I could drive. The ONLY time I took my new tundra to the dealer, I did so because it still had the factory warranty on it yet and the water pump was leaking. I picked up my truck and after starting it, it squealed like crazy. The “tech” routed the drive belt wrong. I spotted it right away and he denied it. Drove my truck home and replaced the belt. F the stealerships.

My 2021 Toyota tundra crewmax has been having massive amounts of water under passenger seat and floorboard. The dealership has unclogged the line multiple times. The next fix they are going to suggest is a new AC box. Said it possibly has a crack in it. $2000 for the box $2000 for the labor ?!?! I asked them to check up with corporate or someone to get this covered. A $4000 fix on a 2021 is ridiculous. I’ve been a FORD girl my whole life and this is my first experience with Toyota. Not impressed sadly. Anyone else have this suggestion for repair?

I probably would go to a different shop that specializes in AC repair. I would also tell them about the drain line issue. I would be willing to bet the dealership didn't do anything to unclog the drain line (or half ass it).
