Not surprising, the guys that change oil at the dealers are a step up from the lot attendants washing the cars. They also have tendencies to overfill and over tighten everything. IMO, you're much better off doing it yourself if possible.

That's bad, I'd demand a new engine if I was you.

Take it back. I always pop the hood before I leave the dealer.

I have only allowed someone else to change my oil 7 times in my life. Of those 7, 3 of them were botched.
    - loose drain plug
    - fill cap not installed - lost
    - oil filter leaked all over
    - grease on my seat

I change my own oil now!

Then I let the dealer install a new power steering rack in my 2021. They neglected to torque the bolts on the front diff. I realized it when my driveshaft was rubbing on the frame and found a sheared off bolt holding the diff in place.

He has 2022, i guess he has to take it to a dealer because of the warranty.
Me personally, i wouldn't let the dealer to wash my car, let alone something like change oil or more serious things.
If you want it to be done right, do it yourself.

Wait a minute. That suggests a problem of some kind with a gen 2.5. Can’t be a true story. :D

Oh, back on topic, I usually change my own but farm out occasionally. Then realize why I do it myself, see OPs pic.

Changing your own oil does not void the warranty.

Unless you have a free lifetime drivetrain warranty from a dealership. They require changing oil every 10K miles with 0w20 synthetic at the dealership.

After seeing that i would check how many ugga-duggas they put on on the drain plug.

    Lots of stuff!
These are the guys who will be doing the engine swaps once they start rolling out the recall fix!

I am feeling much better about my decision to switch to Toyota ;)

I learned that lesson when I was 17. I took my mom's car to the dealer for an oil change... way before there were many other places to go... and when I got the car home for some reason, I checked the oil only to find that they hadn't even done the work. So, I had to take it back and get it done. What a wasted day. Never again. Well, like you, almost never.

This is a common misconception. You absolutely can do routine maintenance on your own car rather than taking it into the dealership. Feel free to change your own oil, rotate your tires and even do repairs like fixing your brakes. All you need to do is keep the receipts for any work you perform, so that you have them on hand in case you need to make a claim.

I brought my gf car (Toyota Tercel) to Sears for new struts, they asked about doing an oil change and I said... Why not its about due.
After hours of walking the store etc, I get the car back. Drive the car locally to a friends house who was also a shadetree mechanic.
As we are talking we notice a line going down the street and stops at the car. We look underneath and sure enough oil is dripping out.

So we put it on the driveway and jack it up. The entire oilpan is twisted... Huh? We put an o ring on the drain plug and put some oil in. Back to the Sears we go. Service manager denied everything. Car was always at the dealer and Toyota would have loved to charge for a twisted up pan. Mechanic afterwards said that someone who changed the oil may have used an impact gun on it.

In the end Sears offered the labor and I pay for the part. No freakin way. General manager and I had a conversation. After that they did all the work.... parts and labor.

After that experience, I learned real quick that nobody cares about the vehicle more than the owner.

My 2019 has a lifetime engine warranty as long as oil changes are done every 5k miles. Does not have to be done at the dealer, just has to be documented. But it's a 5.7, that shit ain't gonna blow up :rofl:
