    Hello All,

I have been searching for my replacement Tundra for the last 3 months and I finally found a good one. I put deposit to hold the truck until Friday so I can take it to a local shop for a pre purchase inspection before purchasing it.

Only concern I have at this point is that where the truck has been and the current location of the truck doesn't require emissions test but my county does and there are no shops near the dealership that does the emissions test.

Truck has been decently modified (rim, lift, and looks like dual exhaust) and wasn't sure if there is other way around for me to get some sort of conviction that truck will pass the emissions test. I wonder if the previous owner would have done any mod that could effect emission?

I called the shop I normally go to and the mechanic told me if the catalyst converters are still there then chances are very likely that it will pass but I also wanted to hear from the gurus in this forum for more ideas.

Any comment/advice will be highly appreciated!

Is the check engine light on? If not, nothing to worry about IMO.

If you’re in New Jersey and the check engine light is not on,you will pass. That’s all they check. With a plug in computer.

Not that I know of but I will have the local shop to verify codes were not deleted during PPI.

The truck has really great service records

I read somewhere that GM barely passes emission test when new but Honda and Toyota have lower emissions than required. Don't know how true this really is but I can tell with my nose if I'm following a GM product. Well, many of them. They just stink.

If no Check Engine light and the cats are still there you should be good to go.

During the test drive, make sure the I/M are set to ready and no check engine light.
