Thanks man. I've always been somewhat of a budget conscience modder. As I usually don't spring for much outside of performance upgrades. But damn @dittothat had to go and post up some fb ads that I made a deal on. So here I am, stoked on my purchase.

It's going. Not terrible, but I have one vital tool that's dead in the water. Hoping it's just getting an update.

Sometimes it can be difficult to say something and have it come out as you've intended. But, I'll do my best here and try to echo what a couple of others have already said...

This type of loss (a mere 2 years ago) is still fresh and painful. But, I hope you can find some comfort knowing that your Dad passed away doing something that he was absolutely passionate about and that he loved doing. Kudos to him for going after his dreams and making them a reality; and add another layer of awesomeness on top of that for sharing his passion w/others and inspiring them to chase their own dreams...

In honor of your father and BIL, I share w/you a couple of quick still images from a 'missing man' formation that we flew several years ago. The formation was flown during a funeral service in honor of a brother of ours that was killed in the line of duty...
    upload_2024-7-26_22-14-43.jpg
    upload_2024-7-26_22-36-20.jpg

... for those not familiar w/the formation, it's basically a wedge, arrow or triangle pattern that starts off w/all aircraft in their appropriate positions. As the aircraft approach the specified target location (usually over a funeral or memorial event), one of the aircraft within the formation will 'peel off' and separate from the group as a aerial salute in honor and memory of a fallen pilot, well known service member, veteran, or political figure.

These stills were taken approximately 15 miles east of the actual service and after having performed the flypast. At this point, the aircraft formation had loosened up significantly (making it a bit safer to grab a couple of quick photos), but it should still give some perspective...

Here's a short video of it being done by the AF... (probably a bit more appropriate since your father flew fixed wing) :plane:

    https://youtu.be/UuEyMyR-7s0?t=51

@j-utah I'm truly sorry for your loss :(

I hope that you are able to find some peace in celebrating his accomplishments in life and having good memories of the time you spent w/him.

Wait, you're a pilot?! Jealous. Rotor pilot was my dream job since I was 6 years old. Never had the money to fulfill it and too old to change careers now.

I didn't have time today to drill the frame. I will though as today and tomorrow I only have a short drive to work and back. They are solid installed the way they are now but drilling the bottom mounting holes will make them even more so. So long answer, yeah and it'll be worth it.

Honestly, if you aren't REALLY bashing it you don't really need to drill. Look at the RCI skids. They lift the whole truck with nothing but the bolts in existing holes. 99% of off roaders don't need the drill options.

You need to stop buying so many toys and spend that money on :plane: lessons....

Pro tip (yeah yeah just the tip): The least expensive way to do this is to first earn your fixed wing and a few other ratings (IFR, commercial, etc.) and obtain most of your PIC hours in a fixed wing (much lower operating cost than rotor); then obtain your rotor rating(s) as an add-on and grow from there....

Eh, this next one is a little more than the tip (about half the shaft) :D: If you employer has a tuition reimbursement program, you may want to look and see if their program covers 'trade' reimbursement (many do now). If so, it's likely they will reimburse so of your expenses in obtaining your pilot's license(s) and ratings

Eh screw it; all the way to the hilt: Plus once you have a Flight Instructor rating you, you'll basically be able to pay for your own development and additional hours/ratings by training others to fly.

Or.... you could get a job that pays for your training and development

Or.... you could join the national guard and learn to fly in the military

AND just remember... You don't have to give up your current gig and the service time you've already put in w/your company to change careers; you can always just do it as a hobby for yourself :hattip:

I fall into that 99% category, the occasional tight/shitty hunting roads or a flipped up log into the body would be my worse case scenario. I rock crawl exactly 0% of the time

No drilling needed then. I did Imogene in my Tundra with just existing bolts on the RCI sliders and took a solid drop right onto the sliders and had zero issues aside from peeling the liner off. I would recommend getting a top plate on any slider you get because it helps keep rocks and mud off the side of the truck.

    Aussie speak...
Be careful also not to mix up the social media use of moot with an application of the same form in Australia, where moot can be vulgar slang for “vagina.”

You have to have some new vulgar slang for vagina when you go around calling everyone cvnts.

I don't believe in "appropriate" or "inappropriate" words/language.
    use what fits.
    if you're a cvnt, you're a cvnt (for example).
that word shouldn't offend anyone if it's the right word for the job.

    it could be any word.
shit, I'm bothered when someone gets called "brave" or a "hero" inappropriately.
