I am wanting to delete the chrome around my grille and replace it with a color matched trim surrounding the grill.

I also would like to replace the grill.

For the color matched grille trim, should I go through the dealer or am I better off finding a third party maker?

    1) the grille and surround get sold together.
    2) since they are on to the 3rd gen, most places don't have stock of color matched surrounds. So they will be sending it out for paint (extra cost to you and added time)
    3) you will want to color match your hood bulge too, have the same place paint both your surround and hood bulge otherwise they may end up different shades and that would be pretty noticeable
    4) you can get overlays as well which depending on what you find might save you money. https://www.tundras.com/threads/chrome-delete-covers-for-tundra-bumpers-bumpershellz.33261/

If they would send it off for paint, would I be better off reaching out to a paint shop near me and see if they can remove the chrome and paint the parts?

You can ask, but from my experience and from posts on the forum. Most shops won't try and paint the plastic chrome parts. You would be better off finding any color bulge/surround and having that paint matched.

Rear Sway bar, TRD dual exhaust, storage unit under rear seat, cargo mate, 10 spoke aftermarket 21" rims (Lexus), weather tech mates, Morimoto headlights, HR hood bar light, Chrome deleted: bulge, grille surround, valance, bumper end caps, mirrors. Replaced all parts with smoked mesquite, and L.E.D bright interior lights.
What a delicate issue. After spending 1,200 to 1,400 dollars I am well please with deleting all the chrome on my 1974 tundra. My door handles are still chrome for the moment. You could purchase several trim levels without chrome, but I wanted the gold wine color interior. I ordered my end caps, and front valance from Pointed OEM Parts. They purchase your parts from toyota, paint and ship to your address. My bugle and grille with surround was purchase directly from toyota already painted. I swapped the mesh with the chrome grille, removing the surround, which took me several days with only breaking two tabs. My color smoke mesquite with antique brown parts are color matching quality. I have seen another toyota with all the chrome painted without any cracks. But most paint shop will not give any type of guarantee when painting chrome

I did something smilar, I think with Sparks. But they didnt have my grill so I went to ebay and got it through a dealership there. The only thing I dont like is the hood bulge. It never has set right against the hood. It is all very simple to replace.

Me neither. I went with whomever had the best price. And for my grill, that was some ebay dealership. For the bulge, it was Sparks, for the bumper ends, it wasnt.
