So towing my 5500 pound 2 axle travel trailer and keep getting intermittent alert on Tundra that trailer braking and also the auto braking feature is inop. Seems like if we pull the wiring harness out and reinsert it goes away for awhile but will come back on. When alert is not present the trailer brakes work as advertised and you can tweak the gain etc...etc.... but when the alert pops it seems as if the Tundra has to do all the braking. Any thoughts as to the cause? I will try sandpaper on the metal connections on the wiring harness connection from the trailer tmw to see if that helps at all.

    Thanks for any suggestions.

Clean all the connections on trailer and truck plugs/sockets for trailer wiring. Spray some cleaner deep in all the nooks. Sound like it is dirty in there and you are getting intermittent connectivity.

Might try dyelectric (did I spell that correctly?) grease. Works great for corroded marine connections, might also work for the 7 pin. Sounds like you might be dropping connectivity.
