Hi All, I found a one I like…2017 TRD Pro with what appears to be a transparent dealer (had some interesting experiences lately) that is out of state but close.

higher mileage at 120k, “silver” certified, TRD Pro (I don’t plan on doing mods), single owner and serviced at same dealer with very good car fax records hitting items mentioned in this forum.

it has some scratched (transparent dealer showed me them) but otherwise in good shape and was mechanically taken care of, leaf springs had a fair amount of rust. With that the price is better for me but not good in this market ($32k) but a price I like as lower miles are higher price point which I would rather avoid as I would rather finance and pay off in a year with these rates.

I live on a few acres and do a lot of work around the house with three kids (5,5,12) wife, dog.

we are not a trail family but bike, fish etc. the other car is the sienna which we will keep for longer road trips and my work is relatively close so not loving the mpg but want a reliable truck. My current ride is a 2012 CRV so yeah I have been drooling over a newer ride that is a lower in miles.

Getting frustrated dealing with some dealers ($5,000 in fees at one) and the BS.

other option is 2010 5.7 crew max Tundra 150k, clean at $19k. I don’t like going back in years but was thinking about this one for a few years and handing off to junior as first car in a few years.

final is a 4Runner which appears to be a much better value, was in mint condition at 80k at $30k for a limited.

2018 4runner checks boxes but not all, looked new on inside and out and not the crazy tundra market.

I buy, maintain and keep cars until for awhile.

Thanks for any and all thoughts, with market purchase would happen a few days or poof it will be sold, 2010 has been sitting for a bit and 4Runners are everywhere.

Seems like you can't go wrong either way. All extremely reliable vehicles, you need to figure out if you want a truck or an SUV. A paint correction go a long way on minor scratches. a $60 DA buffer from the China Warehouse and some scratch remover wax and that Pro could be looking like new again. Or get the '10 and let Jr. tear the wheels off of it making his own memories.

The 4Runner and a trailer for when you need a truck. So much better.

At 17k/year that’s not really heavy usage. And for a well maintained tundra it’s not likely to be failing any time soon. Historically it’s a very good year based on records of recalls and TSB’s. Shortly after that Toyota began introduction of more and more electronic nannies that have caused some difficulties and occasional issues.
Welcome aboard from NW Oregon and best of luck!

My guess is the 2017 is mostly highway miles at 17k miles per year which is much easier on the truck than short distance, I don’t consider a Tundra with 100k miles to be high miles at that point the motor is just getting broken in it’s not a Ford or Chevy. You could save a bunch of money by not buying a TRD Pro, I have a SR5 ( base model) which I am perfectly happy with

Pictures to follow, it is done.
Lyft to Detroit greyhound to Toledo to Cleveland, dealer picked me up there.
Checked everything out, sold, drove home.

Big big deal for me, wanted a tundra for a long time. Was serviced at this dealer so I had access to detailed records and a lot importing and $$ items taken care of. One and all service at a dealer.

love it, wife loves it, junior loves, other two sleeping.

back window roll down is second favorite feature, first is the sound of the V8.

surprised how much I like how the pro looks.

Dealer and sales guy were great, transparent as can be. Two other dealers were con artists, I will put that in the correct forum.

thanks to all on the site, been reading threads and learning.

Congrats on the new "toy"! I used to manage a Toyota dealership in Grand Rapids. We did several dealer trades with Classic. They were always good people to work with.

Congrats on the new rig; you'll love it, and it will put a smile on your face for years to come!!!

I know you said you don't do anything extreme, etc. in terms of trails, rocks and such. But, here is an older video of a 2016 Pro (I believe) that is fully stock and the dude does some pretty impressive stuff; just to give you an idea of the capabilities of these rigs in stock configuration. This dude's even on the OE Michelin ATX2s... It's a 30 minute video, but just think of it as some congratulatory truck porn :D

A true off road 4 runner will outwheel a Tundra all day every day, not that’s that what your interested in.. your CRV can do everything in this video, including the Moab line …I’ve had several Tundras, Tacoma, 4 runner, and it’s not a close call in true off-road ability …I love my Tundra buts it’s never gonna be a wheeler ..facts
