    What are your expectations?

If just want to add a little something, sure anything will help, and the kicker option is not a bad one.

If you are expecting low hard-hitting bass it takes 3 things, power, box size and cone area.

A single 8-inch shallow woofer does not meet any of the 3.

I would go either option below for about the same money as the kicker.

    Skar dual 10 inch setup
https://www.skaraudio.com they have a premade box and sub setup for the tundra $322.99

Soundbox Crewmax box they have it in a 10 inch and a 12 inch version. You can get the 10 inch version on ebay or Amazon $144 for the box. The pioneer shallow mount subs should work in that box. you can pick up the pioneer ts-A2500 ls4 10 inch sub on amazon for $102 each.

The boxes I see online specifically for the crewmax seem to be all ported. I also am seeing people have to break off the tire change tools bracket on the floor behind the rear passenger side seat to get theses to fit. Do you know if that bracket has to be removed with the scar box by chance??

I don’t want to make any permanent changes to the truck besides some sound deadening. I also prefer a sealed box.. mostly rock or acoustic.

this kicker seemed like it might fit my needs. If it would likely not help much I may find me a local box builder to insure everything fits well without modifying they truck.

    thanks!

I've been running a Pioneer TS-SWX2502 10 inch Shallow-Mount behind the seat in my Crewmax and it fits with no problem. It is powered by a Pioneer GM-DX975 (75 watts RMS x 4 at 4ohm + 350 watts RMS x 1 at 4ohm). It has no problem producing clean mirror-shaking bass when called upon. Using a Kenwood Excelon DDX9705S Receiver.

    My complete system:

    H/U: Kenwood Excelon DDX9705S Receiver
Interface: Crux SWRTY-61S Toyota Radio Interface W/SWC Retention
    Amp: Pioneer GM-DX975 (75 watts RMS x 4 at 4ohm + 350 watts RMS x 1 at 4ohm) Class D
Rear Door Speakers: Hertz k170 component (70W)
Front Door Speakers: Hertz k170 component (70W)
Dash Speakers (Left Right): Infinity reference 3022 cfx 3.5 (75W)
Dash Center Speaker: 2x JL Audio C1 tweeters (50W)
    Sub: Pioneer TS-SWX2502 10 inch Shallow-Mount Pre-Loaded Enclosure (300 watts RMS at 4ohm)
Inverter: Victron Power Inverter 350W Phoenix 12/350 350VA
Sound Enhance: Sound Deadening/rattle stop inner outer door skins x4 and rear cab wall.

I am not sure on the soundbox if it removes the the jack bracket or not. I do not think it does. It is a sealed box.

You could call skar audio and ask them. I'm

I had a local shop build one for me. I was able to keep everything factory on the jack. I am using 2 rockford fosgate p2 8 inch subs.

    Sealed vs ported.
If the box is ported correctly with the sub specifications to me it will sound better and have more output.

If I was going to be limited on amp power and air space I would look at the Dayton ho8 inch sub on parts express. Can pick one up for $139
To get that sub to fit probably would need to use 1/2 inch mdf vs 3/4. I would run a single sub ported.

I have used the 10 inch version of the Dayton ho series and they sound fantastic

This is the box i put behind my crewmax seat and I had to cut the back wall insulation to get the seat bolts back in. Open Box for less than listed here. I used this for a little while in my phased build running polk components in the door and dash corners all running on the kicker 360.4 and factory head unit. Not bad but not great but part of the process. You can get the dims of this box to get an idea of max dims and I am telling you this is tight.

I changed out the comp c out for the comp rt 4 ohm dvc wired to 2 ohm and added the Kicker 800.1 Pleasantly surprised with the clean bump of the small box that is packed with polyfill from factory. Changed the Non JBL Head Unit to the Kenwood with Maestro for steering wheel controls and added Hertz components in the back doors.
Now I have a clean as factory system (with car play) that hits but is very clean sounding. I did buy the 30.00 12 pieces Amazon sound deadening and speaker gasket and uninstall the doors to apply and install correctly and this has a major impact on sound. Bought all of the stereo stuff from Crutchfield since they have all the plugs and adapters you need included and a few items were "open box" that still has their warranty and if anythng goes on sale after you buy it and you ask them, they refund you the difference (I got 70.00 back on the 800.1 through the online chat) TMI but it was a lot of trial and error with buying new stuff piece by piece and tuning the gains correctly to get to where I wanted to be with sound system and I know enough about this to be dangerous, that's it.

No it wont, I wasn't able to slide it back enough to get the bolt holes lined up.
