Out of curiosity, what is maintenance like?

I worked for a rural (dialup) ISP/WPP in N. central florida bitd, and we had a gas generator. It fired up pretty consistently when power went down, but we had to stay on top of the damn thing as far as keep up with fuel not getting stale if we didn't have a longer-term event. We made a point of running it once a month and just burning up the gas. But this was back when gas was rarely much more than a buck a gal.

why newer? So they can keep track of and listen to you better, or so they can disable options for the climate? Like 'sorry, suv's and trucks arent allowed to drive on tuesdays.'

I thought about it. But I want to try something first, before I commit to making the change

I really do like how the Alumas behave so far, though they are a bit tight/stiff, rebound is pretty aggressive IMHO - at least, for what I was expecting in offroad suspension. I can imagine they'd be freaking fun as hell out in the desert, but sometimes what I get into in AT fire roads that are washboard, they can be pretty brutal. I'm considering the 6112s as a 'backup' for now. One of our bretheren here on the forum cut me a solid deal on them because he's an awesome dude, I couldn't pass 'em up.

I mean, it could be reaaaaaally nice family-wise to have a GX. That, with a RAV4, and the 1GT? Sounds like an awesome array to cover all the bases IMO

It's a Kohler, but basically the same thing.
Has a casing with a computer and the motor inside, and sits on a slab of concrete, runs off the natural gas line.
It's on the other side of the house. In fact it's on the other side of my bedroom wall. Which can get annoying sometimes when it's running.

Because our phones aren't already tracking us? It would be nice to own something that isn't constantly making new mystery noises. Plus I'd like some features like steering wheel controls. A GX would be sweet.

We can appreciate the old Toyotas but no one here can claim they wouldn't be excited if someone gifted them a 2024 Tundra. Blown engine or not. :D

They had a TRD Pro "reduced" to $65k at the dealership today. Way more than I'd spend but it looks good.

I’m installing fog lights on my tundra, and needed a relay but since mine didn’t came with it could I use the tow tail light relay in its place? They have the same volts so I assumed it would work with it or would it have to be exactly a fog light relay

    Thanks much for this lead.

Looks like the Mishi does have a larger core @ 1.25" like the Denso, and quite cost effective at $90.65, apparently sold by them with free shipping and returnable at Walmart too.

    https://www.walmart.com/ip/Mishimot...atible-With-Toyota-Tacoma-1995-2004/690885725

However, the warranty fine print reveals it looks like they take the opposite approach to LAPS that charge up to double the cost but factor in cost of replacement under lifetime warranty, while Mishi sells it at lower cost but charges escalating fees over time in the event of a failure, so much as to apparently deter a warranty claim after 90 days in favor of instead re-purchasing a replacement.

    https://www.mishimoto.com/lifetime-warranty

In confirmation about how a replacement would be handled under warranty, was told that "The Toyota Tacoma warranty pricing would be for trucks" and "Please note that the stock replacement style radiators are not designed or engineered by Mishimoto like our all aluminum radiators", as was told they apparently they have a factory in China that produces them.

Didn't ask but might apply to their Tundra plastic end-cap radiators too.

Shipping Fee For Repair or Replacement of Truck radiators and intercoolers
    • If claim is submitted within 90 days of purchasing the product, the charge will be $50.
    • If claim is submitted more than 90 days after purchase, the charge will be $100.
    • If a replacement or repair product is to be shipped to Canada, the charge will be $150
    Note:
For all claims submitted more than two years after purchase, there will be a $25 surcharge added to the prices above.

Careful shopping at WallyWorld. Like scAmazon, Sears/Kmart, fleaBay, NewEgg and others, they allow 3rd party unverified-inventory sellers to sell on their platform. You should always question the authenticy of anything you order on that platform.

So checked and actually this was purchased in July 2022 not 2020 (so just under 2 not 4 years ago).

FYI - Called around and Toy parts was nice enough to pull one of the MVPs out of the box and said it was marked Denso made in Taiwan.

Looks like buying an MVP from Serra during a 25% off sale with free shipping might be only slightly cheaper then everyday pricing with 5% off at RA.

IIRC it was noted it as a marketplace sale direct from Mishi, so would have verified with them that this was their inventory. But decided not to buy that radiator. Maybe if could get locally to see it in person so not play the shipping swap game if comes damaged since the wait was like 5 days IIRC even with paid shipping from them directly. In the past have paid a higher price for Denso at the LAPS but had to go through a couple to get one that I was in the condition I was willing to install I ventured was due to handling.... Kind of shy about shipping radiators with slow transit times on a DD.

Was it Mishimoto people on here were bitching about leaking? Man. I remember it was one of the two big alu rad companies.
