So I saw the recall of mod but don’t know the dates. From trying to decipher the forum sounds like recall is for 22-23 models but there hasn’t been any response / remedy from Toyota.

Thoughts on if I should do 1K oil change?

Mine's a 4/24 build date and I did an oil change at 1k. My dealer had a "3 service for $199" special so now my 5k and 15k are already paid for and Toyota picks up the tab on the 10k & 20k. Kind of a cheap peace of mind thing. Just in case.

If anyway possible do it yourself or find a shop that will drain the oil into a clean container so you can inspect it closely for debris. Might want to get an oil analysis kit headed your way too.

I did my first one at 1700 yesterday. I’ll do it again at 5K. I ran Amsoil SS 0W20. I may either use Mobile One EP or ESP 0W20 since it’s cheaper. After 5K by me the dealer will do the 10K till 85K is up.

I did my first oil change around 1800 miles. I had to get the transmission recall done and figured while I was there I’d have them do it. Truck sat on the lot for a couple months before I bought it and it was around April or May when I did the recall. About 500 mile off 5000 and when I take it for the 5k service I’ll just have them due the oil change as well. Followed the 5k oil changes on all my previous Toyotas and I’ll keep with tradition with the tundra.

I have a 24 hybrid and did oil change @500 miles and 2k miles. Figure it’s a cheap way to try to prevent issues in the future.

Do you trade in before drive train warranty expires?
If so, why bother. Just follow Toyota’s service schedule and save the $$$.

If you plan to pass the truck down to your son after 10+ years, then it may make sense to do the 1K, followed by 5K changes.
