glad to hear your truck is back running fine.

I have my truck scheduled to get the two front side windows done on Monday. just wanting to make sure you only had your windshield done when this acted up? Not your side windows?

Windshield only. I don’t think there’s anything to worry about with the sides.

From a previous post, you stated the techs had cleaned and applied dielectric grease. Appears they weren't truthful with you in that instance based on your own observation and photo. First strike: Exorbitant quote they gave you initially to fix it. Second strike: Giving you a li9ne of BS regarding what they had done to miti9gate problem. Third strike: Up to you whether you even pitch to them again. I wouldn't! Call it a balk, but I would find another service department.

As someone with almost 40 years as a Substation Electrician working on millions of dollar pieces of outdoor high voltage equipment, I would be laughing uncontrollably at the service person telling me they need to replace a harness for water intrusion and connector contamination…
Especially in the Pacific Northwest where we see it a lot.
Lots of small computer connections in today’s power grid equipment. Find the problem, treat the problem correctly.
    Put it back in service.
Only when something melts and lets the smoke out do you need to replace or repair a harness. The actual computers or controllers, that is something else.

This would (seem to me) to be a simple warranty issue. Obviously water intrusion, and certainly corrosion could not have occurred within an hour. I would think you have dated documentation for the tinting. Good luck.

Yeah I’m still in disbelief how they treated this whole situation. They were hell bent on screwing me over instead of treating a very simple issue. It’s been many years since I owned a new vehicle and had to deal with any dealership. Lots of lessons learned here. Fortunately there are other Toyota dealerships a bit further away next time I need service.

The parts department wanted 17 dollars for 1 pre-pinned repair wire. I got 6 connectors, pins and weather seals Ali express for that.

Here’s the icing on the cake. When they finally got my truck ready for me, they didn’t even notice this. I went to get in and drive off and noticed it myself and went back to the service manager. Accidents happen but after all the BS they put me through I was red hot! They (supposedly) ordered a new one so I’ll have to check up on it soon.

Better hope that water intrusion doesn’t corrode the connectors in there!!!

    Sorry, too soon??

Yeah I mentioned that and took the pic while it was there. They found the cover on the ground in the car wash all scratched up and put it back on. I checked it yesterday and everything looks ok. Mirror functions like it should. Multiple techs and service manager were around it after it came off and nobody noticed lol.

My closest Toyota dealership is about9 miles away. I drive right past it and continue for another 20 miles to get to the one that provides my service.

Sadly too many of use do the same thing.... I certainly do as well. I have a dealer maybe 3 miles away? Nope I go to one about 15 miles away just because of the better service.

You should post the dealer name so others can avoid.
