Need your guys help please. So I installed some Nilight ditch lights today not a big deal. Went to move it back to my parking space and noticed it was idling super low and struggling and would eventually stall I didn't have any lights on. I started it up again and it did it again moved it about 15 ft to my parking space and was hesitating then stalled in my spot. I didn't do anything engine wise except added some antifreeze (Asian OEM pink 50/50) to my reservoir as it was a tad low. Any idea what's going on? I hooked up Nilight wire harness per instructions to positive on battery and grounded the other to the frame and mounted relay to inside fender. Truck has 130,000 all maintenance has been done was my dad's truck since brand new off the lot. Disconnected lights today it was fine until it warmed and started doing the same thing drove it around the block and rpms would drop and stall even while doing 40-50 mph.

Welcome to the forum. Any check engine lights or codes you can share? Which engine do you have?

Generally if you disconnect the battery for some time it will reset the ECU and the truck will need to re-learn things. Until it does, low idle is fairly normal. However, a stall is not normal. I would suggest looking under the hood and checking to see if you accidentally removed a vacuum line.

This. And I'd argue stall is normal on a truck that has a poorly taken care of (dirty) throttle body, when a forced relearn is triggered.

Question is: Did you disconnect the negative (or positive) battery cable for more than 5-10 minutes? That's about the time it'd take to trigger a relearn.

Agreed. If the throttle body has never been cleaned and it’s been years since the ECU did a relearn it could stall. Dirty MAF is also a possible contributor, at least in my experience with the old 3.4 V6.

Exactly. Could also be triggered from using parts-store-brand MAF (vs. Hitachi or Denso). Or if OP was throwing an O2/AF sensor code for upstream O2 sensor(s). Or if OP tampered with a ground. But I suspect you and I are both right: It's relearn, and his shit is dirty.

And to that point on cleaning ...
    • Inspect the Throttle body for gunk; if you see a lot of buildup, only use specifically labeled "throttle body cleaner" to clean; NEVER spray cleaner directly into the TB, spray into a cloth then wipe the TB until clean; DO NOT let the butterfly slam closed, but DO open it while cleaning.
    • Clean the MAF, only use specifically labeled MAF cleaner.
    • Cleaning videos below; these CRC guys are your friends, and many stores sell as a kit, or as tallboy cans individually.
