Has anyone removed the active air dam, I would like to install a front receiver hitch on my truck.
I see people with 2024 have just disconnected their air dams and removed.
Not sure if it will create any alarms !!!

TRD Air Filters, Front door windows tinted to match the rears. Wheel locks, Talons Garage cat shield, Tyger Automotive soft tonneau cover, WeatherTech floor mats with Tuff Skinz Custom Emblem kit, Toyota OEM Emblem Black Out kit. AVS vent covers on all four doors, Red Tundra letters on front bumper & TRD highlighted in Red on front grille. Tailgate Tundra Letters in Black.
I was told by a Toyota mechanic not to remove the air dam since it helps the twin turbos. Is there an air dam friendly kit?

A lot of people just remove the dam and leave to motor there and plugged in so no codes pop up. I’m curious what it would do to my mpg adding one.

You know I think that is a great idea, just remove the plastic air dam and leave the motor connected, as long as I can manipulate a front receiver hitch around the air dam motor !!!!!

You could probably even relocate the motor if need be within reach of the harness and plug.

I'm trying to figure how that air damn would do anything for the turbos? I think you were sold a bill of goods.

That’s a ridiculous statement if you ask me. Some say it adds only a small fraction of 1mpg to the Hwy mileage and only on a the lower height trucks.

I don't think it would cause problems other than a drop in mpg. The amount of drop, I do not know, but I would assume it is very little. The air dam gets removed, if you get the Toyota TRD 3" Lift kit. I don't think Toyota would engineer a lift kit, backed by warranty, if the air dam was required for operation of the truck.

Maybe so but I wouldn’t alter anything at the moment until the engine recall is figured out.

Good point. My plan is to install the CBI Covert bumper, Toyota TRD 3" Lift Kit, bigger tires and paint the chrome mustache white. I am also not making any changes to the truck until Toyota figures out the engine recall.

Looks like the engine recall will be announced end of July 2024

I don't know what they plan on doing, but my guess is nobody will be happy with the "fix" for the recall. Me personally, I'd be happy with a free extended warranty on the truck up to about 125,000 miles. But I doubt Toyota gives a free extended warranty that covers everything for that long. Probably just a powertrain warranty. But a guy can dream, can't he?
