Just bought a Diode Dynamics RGBW footwell lighting kit with the Bluetooth controller to install on a 2023 Tundra (non-hybrid). I was hoping for a YouTube video on how to do it, but no dice on that one. Just wondering if anyone else out there has any experience with this or has done it themselves. There are a lot of places to get 12v power, but there is only one best/cleanest place to do it. Would it be best to use an "add a fuse" and just piggyback off an existing circuit? I'm open to any and all ideas and suggestions. Thanks!

I would try and find the harness that the factory footwell lights plug into and tap into that.

I successfully installed the Diode Dynamics footwell kit. Took a couple hours. I just ran the power straight to the battery, both power and ground. To ground the switch, I just used one of the factory bolts on the side of the dash (that panel just pulls straight out. I did remove most of the center console just to make it a very clean install. The connector that all the lights plug in to is now in an empty place around the gear shifter. I used harness tape to make sure none of the connections come loose. Surprisingly, that venter console all snapped back into place literally within about 2 minutes! Very happy with the lights! The back seat lights are mounted at the top of the back seat as close to the leather as I could get. I'll post a pic tonight when it's dark. Looks good!

if you went direct to battery, did you put an in-line fuse?

just curious, mine has footwell and ambient lighting all over OEM, but was just thinking about the direct on battery deal and there should be a fuse somewhere in there I would think

I did. A 5 amp fuse is plenty. I have an entire box of in line fuses after building an on board solar array. Worked out perfect!

This project fixed the one thing I actually hate on this 3rd gen Tundra. Interior lighting is PATHETIC! The colors are cool and all, but having the white light also is a huge step in the right direction.

In case you haven't discovered it yet, the interior lighting is not upgradeable either. The LED's are soldered directly to the board. TERRIBLE engineering on Toyota's part.

Overhead lighting is lacking, but the Platinum ambient lighting is perfect.
