I dunno, but I wouldn't be surprised if @Acatlin96 has passed the 700k mile threshold at this point and I believe his truck is the same color, built up, and used just as much!

Think you may have tagged the wrong guy! My Tundra is still in its infancy at 200k. Also I have a silver sky metallic with a camper shell.

It's crazy how mean the access cabs look with the fender flares removed. It makes those 33" tires look a lot bigger.

Hello All! The truck in question belongs to a good friend of mine who picked it up earlier this year. He is supposedly the third owner of the truck. Not much of an internet guy, and not on this forum, but I connected with him back when we were both rolling around in R50 Pathfinders. Dig deep on my channel and you'll find him and his red 96 Pathfinder.

Here's what I know about the truck.

    ~3rd owner
    -Original Transmission
    -467K Miles on the Odo.
-Original motor sucked up dirt and debris on a snowmobiling trip (hauling trailer?) and locked the engine up at 254K. This was with the previous (2nd) owner. He had access to another tundra and tossed in a 285K mile engine. Do the math, about 498K on the current engine. Adjust for tires and it's over 500K. The previous owner hauled a lot of firewood, hence the bed damage. Most of the dash lights are on, with the CEL for on 02 sensor which has been ignored for a while.

All that said, the truck runs and we had a great time rallying around and camping. Didn't skip a beat on a 10 Hr round trip to meet me and another friend in Central Idaho. Really impressive truck that continues to take a beating to this day!

Ol clapped out Tundra with all the dash lights on and mismatched body panels. Cool bumper I guess. First engine died from dirt and rocks getting ingested (how did they get past the air filter?). Running the worst possible air filter on the replacement motor. Luckily these trucks are hard to kill. I’m guessing the blue interior comments mean that’s the moon mist light grey. This truck would have been really cool if your high school buddy had one. You would all take turns beating the crap out of it.

Air Filter was installed post-mortem of the first engine to avoid having that happen again.

Montana now, the truck was in Wyoming and Colorado before

Before the engine got rock/pebble/dirt locked, it had a factory intake system. The previous owner claims to have installed the aftermarket intake to avoid sucking up debris through the fender again.

Edit: As I post this, I begin to question how the PO's story goes... he said it was debris, but I don't know. Melting snow and sucking it up? Whatever. I can only repeat what I've been told on this one.

Likely water ingestion as dust, debris and rocks would have a harder time getting in through the fender and also a harder time making it through an air filter. Water ingestion could also have been significant submersion. Could be other water related damage.

Bit of an older thread revival but, I've got to give this guy some credit. Just watched this and @208Tyler nails it. Some really inconvenient truths for many overlanding folk. Certainly inconvenient for the "influencer" crowd.

    Dude nails it.

I've driven thousands of dirt road miles in the West between work and play, and maybe 5% of it was something a Honda Civic couldn't drive down.

Yep. I went "off road" last weekend on a fairly infamous road in NC that guys on Tacomaworld talk up as "over landing". The views were great but it was just a bumpy gravel road. And your comment was funny because I passed a few Civics and a Jetta. There is only one small section they could not pass.

i mentioned this on the 4R forum a while back, maybe here too, a good while back i saw a post on IG, just a suggested reel or something someone i know commented on. It was a guy filming the views, caption on the video said something like
"just climbed xxxx trail, 4 hours in 4wd locked with my crew to capture these views"
He panned around at the views, as he panned you could see the crew of 6-10 jeeps, and as he kept panning the caption changed and he said
    "and then we saw this"
as he panned he showed 2 Subaru parked side by side with some people having lunch on the ground.

It was absolutely hilarious for a few reasons, some people "think" they are climbing mount everest when they are simply riding a gravel road that isnt county maintained every month and they were "supposedly" in 4wd locked climbing for 4 hours in the only way up and once they get to the top find a few awd station wagons up there enjoying the views and lunch already.

Hell, I hit some pretty treacherous swamp areas in the FL armpit earlier this year in our 2WD '20 Highlander hybrid and made it in/out, no problem. Wife was sweating bullets as we rolled through it, but I grew up driving in similar, just gotta know what not to do in those situations.

That said, I'd have preferred to have my 1GT, because I'd have felt like a total d-bag if we'd have gotten stuck at the expense of my situational confidence.
