Out cruising around. This time with the radio off. I hear this fan noise when pressed the throttle. I don’t know if this was the radiator fan…maybe it was or was it the turbos. I did install AFE drop in filters and removed the carbon filters from the air box. What are your thoughts. It seems to run normal. Only 650 miles, lol.

Typically spooling noises will be more prominent with non stock filter media.
Also, didn’t you also remove mesh from air boxes?
I’m sure you’re just hearing turbo spool noises

Yes I removed the mesh and installed AFE Prodry air filters.

That’s what I’m thinking. When I got home I opened the hood and the engine was pretty quiet. Stepped on the gas and you could hear it. Rookies and turbos don’t belong, lol.

Thank you for this totally organic thread mentioning your AFE brand filters. $$$

Yeah I know. I could gone TRD but don’t want to hassle with oiling filters.

That sounds like normal turbo noise. Mines more like a fan noise. I’m wondering because it’s been so hot the fan clutch is staying engaged a little longer. How can you build boost pressure without gaining any speed?

It is most likely your Mechanical fan. If its hot out and or you have air conditioning going. You will here the roaring noise of the fan. Comes on for brief periods. I am in the south temp was 105 heat index. Tuesday my fan was roaring away during acceleration and parked Ac on and with out.

Update. The noise I heard yesterday wasn’t there this morning. I did pay attention to the turbo spool…love it, lol. I think the fan clutch was engaged since it was so hot yesterday.

Thank you. That’s what I’m thinking. It didn’t make the noise this morning.
