So, after seeing the debris in my 2nd oil change at 2,360 miles, my wife and I agreed to get rid of the Tundra quickly while we can. For those considering trading and for reference, we got $73,000 ACV for the TRD Pro. That’s more than what I paid two months ago. And, we got $7k off MSRP on a ‘24 Chevy 2500HD ZR2 Duramax. Love the ZR2 and build quality seems significantly better than my Pro. Toyota needs to get their shit together. Good luck to those who are rolling the dice and I genuinely hope your trucks provide you many headache free miles. Cheers.

Weird that 2 weeks ago you were spamming you couldn’t find a dealer to take your tundra and now you got more than you paid for, haha. Congrats on the sweet trade in/buy deal though! I don’t like the looks of the new GMs, but nice truck!

Thank you! Yep, it only took weeks of calling MANY dealers and finding the right one. Honestly, my wife and I are still pinching ourselves as the deal was beyond our expectations. It's a huge dealer who sells over 700 vehicles a month (or so I was told), so being a volume dealer surely helped.

For what it's worth, I had two more dealers during my search refuse to take my Tundra on trade, so being persistent paid off. There are dealers that will still deal apparently, you just have to find them.

That's a damn nice lookin chevy! If I needed a 3/4 ton or HD truck that would be my pick. Do you mind sharing the total price of the chevy?

Thank you, we really like it. Sure, the MSRP was $85,985. If you go with the gasser, you can get a ZR2 in the mid $70's (before discount of course). It almost makes sense for prospective buyers to get a loaded 3/4 ton gas when the 1/2 ton costs as much or sometimes more.

It may be me, but when I sell one of my vehicles, I fix all present and developing problems, just to make sure whoever purchase it from me would not have those problems for the money he paid to me. Engine included. Money I can earn more easily, trust not so much. Sure, Toyota screwed it in first place, but what a crappy world we live in.

Also Toyota customer dumping it for GM over quality/reliability concerns is very ironic.

Allison tranny is now manufactured internally by GM after they sold Allison. It is a "Allison Branded" tranny now which means here is some money so we can still use the name to trick people into thinking this is the old bullet proof Allison build.

There are already issues with it. Let's see if GM pulls out the our warranty covers manufacturing defects but not design defects legal maneuver.

I would say you're in the minority, but nice gesture indeed. Respectfully, there was no fix for my Tundra other than engine replacement which obviously couldn't happen yet as the engine still works. And, waiting on my engine to blow to only then have it torn apart by the Toyota Midas tech would not only have devalued my trade due to time, but likely subsequent damage would have ensued.

Overall, I agree that it's a crappy world we live in especially when Toyota's president/CEO Mr. Toyoda himself has recently apologized in shame for purposely lying about certification testing results. Don't trust anyone or anything, especially used cars.

I will take my chances with a truck that may have Allison tranny issues (none of which I have heard of) over a truck that has an engine that may implode while going 75+mph with family and nowhere to pull over in some instances. Ultimately, most vehicles manufactured after roughly 2019 are junk...it's a fact. However, in the short time with my ZR2, it appears that initially it feels less "junky" than my '24 TRD Pro. That is not me trying to justify my new purchase but being objective about my Tundra ownership experience. Actually, the build quality of my Tundra was the worst I have had in a long time, even prior to 2019.

I do wish you good luck and fortune with your Tundra.

Matt, noooooooo of course not. I have to check in from time to time to see how your engine replacement and paint work from tech damage is going. I am your battle buddy and won't leave you hanging. You need my unwavering support during your tumultuous Tundra ownership experience

Likewise with you and your new truck. But make no mistake, I won't miss you. I don't miss Chicken Little hand-wringers who make it their mission to convince others to share in their irrational paranoia.

Congratulations! What reasoning did you use with GM when asked why you wanted to trade in a "new" truck, or did they even ask? I can see you have an out saying that "I need a bigger truck" but would this have worked if you'd have gone for a ½ ton GM???? I hope you enjoy your new ride and thanks for sharing your story with us.

Thank you, and that wasn't my intention. You view it as irrational paranoia because you yourself are paranoid, but I view it as being proactive to eliminate possible engine failure and avoid safety recall aftermath.

We can agree to disagree and again, I wish you well.

Oh yes, they asked. "Why are you trading a 2-month-old '24 Tundra"? My answer was simple...I don't want to deal with small displacement twin turbo gas engines anymore. Granted, that is a true statement but certainly not 100% of why I was trading. I also considered a 1/2-ton GMC Sierra with the 3.0 diesel which gets great reviews as well. But, when I saw the ZR2 HD in person, I just had to have it. Thank you for the kind words and hope you enjoy your truck as well. Cheers.

Congrats on the new 3/4T truck! I think you should paint those tow hooks black. But that’s just me. Or better yet just take those bad boys off and go commando.

Congrats! I've been wondering when you'd trade it in after reading your posts. Glad you found a great deal on the trade in value.
