So I found one of my shock reservoirs leaking the other day. These have been installed for who knows how long (not sure when the truck was lifted) and were certainly not in the best shape even when I got it. The previous owner looks to have spent a lot of time at the beach.

Anyway, I have new Fox coilovers on order but they’re 4 - 8 weeks out.

so my question is, is there anything that would help slow the leak just to get me by until the new shocks come in?

For now I’m leaving things alone. Hopefully I will get my front coilovers soon.

So I’ve got another question, is it better to piggyback the reservoir for my rears? That’s how it is now. Or mount them to the frame?

I kinda like the look of having it visible on the frame.

No significant performance difference between a piggy back and a remote reservoir, but less points for failure on a piggyback.

For me, it’s piggyback unless that won’t fit…. Why add a hose and more connections if not necessary? Function first; then aesthetics.

    Thanks Chad.

These are the shocks I got for the rear. Basically the newer Fox 2.0 with reservoir that I have now.

There is already a pretty long hose and I think it will reach a good frame mounting point as is.

If I do go piggyback I’m also wondering if I need one or two clamps. I have two now but these reservoirs seem shorter.

Correction, the rear reservoirs are the same length. So if I do piggyback I need to get me two more clams as I only ordered two so far.

My old clamps from the lift OEM won’t fit the new shocks as Fox changed the diameter slightly from when my lift was built.

Ahhh, I misunderstood what you meant by “piggyback”. You have a remote reservoir with a hose, regardless. You’re just talking about benefits on various mounting locations. I thought you were trying to decide between a remote, like your photo, or a true piggyback where there is no hose. The reservoir is rigidly attached to the shock body with a very short hard line. No hose or additional fittings.

Rey hit it. The only thing to worry about is mounting the reservoir can in a safe and secure spot. Orientation means nothing.

I’m probably not using the right term. My front coilovers are about 4 - 6 weeks out so just trying to figure out what all I need to get these thing installed when everything arrives.
