I'm probably going to put 5100s on my Tundra like I did with my Tacomas. I know you can get about 2.3 inches with the stock coils on the top setting. How does it ride? What about using OME coils on the bottom setting? I ran 5100s with OME 885 coils on my DCSB Tacomas and got about 2.5 inches with a pretty good ride. Thoughts? Experience? Recommendations?

OME lift coils for the Tundra run high (OME usually runs a bit high vs advertised for any vehicle), expect about 2.75 lift if running the "light" coils and stock bumper, so adding adjustable perches for additional lift will most likely have you running too high where you will run into UCA and geometry issues. OME light coils put the stock UCA about at limit.

Honestly, if you want to run OME I would just get the suspension kit as it is all matched, it is quality stuff, install it and forget it. Ive run OME on several vehicles.

So, either do full OME of if you need coils for 5100s, look into eibach coils-stock replacement.

I like the silver finish of the Bilsteins vs the OME yellow.
Stock Eibach springs? I'm trying to stay away from compressing springs for lift. I am looking at the Toytech and Eibach kits. But it looks like I'll need to buy more stuff with the Eibach kit.

I would NOT recommend Bilstein shocks with any OME coils. OME springs are designed to be very stiff and the Bilsteins are valved on the stiffer side. I ran this setup on a Tacoma and it was down right horrid on the street. A true wagon ride…
Multiple people said they would ride great together…BS! *EDIT*I just realized that you had them together before OP (I had a much different experience). Quite a few off-road shops I spoke to also recommend AGAINST mixing those brands but I didn’t listen.

Keep the OME coils with OME shocks. And keep the Bilsteins with a Eibach coil or in all honesty the Eibach shocks are a step up in ride comfort over the 5100’s.

I don't think Tundra OME coils even fit properly on 5100s. Never heard of anyone doing it at least.

the toytec lifts are a good option. And around the same price as OME, you should look at Eibach Pro truck suspension, stage 2. Threaded adjustability, not clip settings, lift from 0 to 2.75 inches and the price is really good- about 1100. I actually purchased that suspension myself, have not installed it yet. Kit included assembled lifted coilover and rear shocks. There are a couple threads here on it if you search.

I'm liking what I'm seeing with the Eibach kits. The Toytech 5100 kit is an option too.

The issue I have with the $1k+ Eibach or Toytech 2.0 sets is that it appears that the guts of both front and rear shocks are not really an upgrade over a Bilstein 5100 or similar Eibach kit... which is less than half that. The extra money is for a nicer appearance and an adjustment collar.

I have 5100's front and rear. The front is on the top setting and I ended up needing to raise the back 1 inch to make it look right. I would have dropped it back down to the middle setting but I want to replace my tires with 35's eventually so I got it aligned at the top setting. These replaced my stock OE black shocks at +-38k miles. On the top setting the ride is slightly stiffer than what I had. I've since put about 700 miles on them and it I like the ride quality.

Just for any folks watching who might care, you don't need a lift for 35s. I've been running big fat ones for 4 years (and no lift yet) and it never rubs. If you want it to never rub you'll have to do the same plastic and BM mods, lift or not.

Eibach Pro truck or the toytec lifts will ride better than 5100s, there are plenty of posts and reviews that specifically mention that. If you want 5100s get them.

If you want the Eibach ride you can get that with the Eibach <$500 kit. Just different valving vs Bilstein.

Okay I've got an '05 DC 4x4 4.7v8, I've got 1.5" spacers with the stock tires/rims, what would I need to do to run 315/75r16 tires? Also I'm running without a front bumper at all so I've got a little bit more wiggle room than most on clearance. Otherwise fully stock suspension.

I used 5100 with ome springs on my 4 runner and loved it. Yes there were many that said it can’t and shouldn’t be done but I loved it and everyone that rode in it mentioned how great it rode. If you want them go for it.

I have 5100’s in middle setting with stock springs and ride is no different than stock. I went with 33’s I didn’t want the most massive tire I could stuff in there as I tow a boat quite often and the 33’s are plenty for me.

    5100's front, spacer rear
I finally had the 5100's I've had for a year installed. There was a lift block in front and 1-1/2 " spacers in rear. My front fender arch was at 40 inches with 33's. I set the struts at the highest level assuming the truck would lower some. It came down exactly 1/2 inch. Rides a lot better now minus the 176,000 mile struts.
