Trying to decide which is the better option: 2020 SR5 CM RWD with 60k miles, or a 2016 pro with 80k miles. Pro would be $4k more than the SR5.Anyone been in a similar position? Thanks

I forget there are parts of the country where dealerships actually sell 2WD trucks

and that 80k, if it was taken care of, it’s just getting warmed up…

I said the same thing here in Texas. Bought my first two wheel drive. Then it froze and I got stuck in my flat driveway. Then at the deer lease I drove through a damp spot and got stuck. Truck was gone a week later for the tundra with 4wd. Haven’t needed 4wd in the two years since but I’ll be damned if I ever get a two wheel drive truck again.

This was always a fun measuring contest in the Ram forums. I have owned them both. When I had 4wd on my trucks I would use it occasional but never needed it. Now I run two different 2wd trucks with better tires and havent had an issue yet. Hell, my traction boards have been used by others with 4wd who got a little to carried away while I havent needed them. I drive on the beach, tow and hit boat ramps. The only time I wish I had it is on the ramps occasionally. Knowing how to air down/up has been more important to me than the drive train.

I have zero regrets with either, buy what you can afford/justify. And no, I am not worried about resale with this one either. Living in TX, I was 2wd mostly as well, but I got out before the freeze. When I go to hunt camp in GA, I am just careful.

Picked up a Rugged Radios M1 Chase Radio, but wasn't very happy with the available mounts so I developed my own solution.

This is a lasercut & CNC bent powdercoated steel bracket that positions the radio in the center recess on the dash. It's offset to bring the radio towards the driver for easy access to all the controls. It also has a pass-through slot in the base to keep all the wires tidy and maintain airflow for effective cooling. When used with a mic cord extension, this will keep the front of the dash completely clutter-free with flexible mic mounting on either side of the center console.

Mounts with four 1/4" screws and requires drilling a 3/4" hole for the wires and connectors. The 3/4" hole is covered up by the pass-through slot. Radio is mounted super solid and works perfectly.

100% agree. I would never not spend the extra money for a 4x4 truck. When you need it, youll be glad you have it.

Very much depends on the beach. The beaches I drive on have been hard packed pretty decently and I avoid obvious soft spots. I do not go out to impress anyone or show off. Plus I carry a compressor, air down tool, and traction boards. I was going to get a winch, but there are enough people out there itching to use theirs so i saved the coin.

Honestly, if i have to buy a new truck, 4wd will not be a requirement. If its apples to apples and one is 4wd within 3k, ill get the 4wd. I know its worth 5k to most people, not to me.

I use my 2WD all the time around GOM beaches all the way from Galveston to Matagorda Bay and to Padre Island. Never had an issue with 2WD honestly.

Just curious. Are there any beaches you can drive on in Northern FL? There are none here in SW FL.
