Has anyone installed a booster in their truck yet? If so how was the installation and where did you put everything/run the wires?

I'm also on the fence between the weboost overland and mounting the external antenna on a ditch light mount...or going with a standard antenna on the roof.

Expedition overland did a pretty thorough walkthrough of cell-booster install, on their YT channel. Trent Palmer on YT also did a brief overview of his, being in the sticks outside Reno. I'm sure you can find videos more specific to the tundra, too.

They’re not really worth it from a professional perspective. They don’t buy you much, especially if you are looking for data. They seem to be an absolute need for all the overland builds that tackle the route from the garage to the mall.

I run a WeBoost in my work truck. Install is very easy. I installed some riv-nuts in the bed that way I can easily remove the mount if needed. The control box is mounted under the seat using velcro.

The performance doesn't blow you away, but it gains me 1-2 bars of signal. If I usually have 1, I will have 2-3. Now life changing, but in bad areas I can make a phone call and I drop fewer calls.

I would definitely install one again. I run between 200-300 miles a day and half of it is in bad signal areas so I will take any help I can get.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have installed them in other trucks before. I was hoping for something more specific to 3rd gen tundras. I guess I'm just a little hesitant to start pulling apart my new truck.

Idk. I have never intentionally "overlanded" for the fun of it. I work in oil and gas though and have countless hours in BFE. I have had boosters for years in work trucks. I'm sure it varies on where you live, but in my case it has definitely made the difference between being able to get a call/text out or more importantly streaming netflix while sitting on location. I do have an inreach for the times where even the booster is no help.

    Which WeBoost do you have?

My area is nothing like out west but I frequently have time where a “good enough” signal may be a half-mile away. It is kind of a pain when you need to call/text a customer or run a credit card. We have a WeBoost back at the shop and I am impressed with the way the stationary unit work. We have been looking at something for the trucks but just haven’t pulled the trigger yet.

The need for comms was a priority, so we just went with satellite.

I use weboost overland. It gives you acceptable data/voice network where you typically have 1-0 bars. But when there is no network it cannot do much

The good thing is that if you have the latter you also have the former.
