While looking for a good spot to mount my air compressors I noticed that the spare tire on my 1794 Limited Edition is a steel wheel with a different model tire. I have Falken Wildpeak 265/60R20 and my spare is some kind of Michelin LTXZ Trail 265/70R18. So that's a different aspect ratio which if put on the same axle running the 265/60R20 it could cause problems such as damage to the differential, handling problems, the car thinking one tire is slipping which can affect the traction control and ABS.
From looking on the Toyota website comparison page the only platform I see that size tire being put on is the SR5. Not to mention it's a steel wheel with a different rim size. My 08 Tundra Limited came with a full size spare identical to the other 4 tires and with the alloy wheel.

Are you the original owner? Run your VIN if not and it will tell you what it originally came with.

What does your spec sheet and /or door jamb sticker say about a spare tire size?

Regardless, 1 revolution per mile difference is not going to ruin your differential or cause ABS or Trac / Stability problems. Tire pressure and tread depth differences will easily surpass 0.3% in revs/mile.

Odd about your ‘08. Did you buy it new?

I know my ‘08 TRD came with 275/65R18s on alloys and a 255/70R18 spare on a steel wheel. And every other 2nd gen I’ve seen have had a 255/70R18, including a limited on 20’s

The bigger problem might well be the steel spare needs different lug nuts that themselves need a different wrench/socket.

Have done a simulated spare tire change in the driveway?

The OEM nuts for alloys work with steel wheels for this purpose. ;)

It’s the closest size available on an 18” spare. It’s close enough.

Yes, also bought the 08 brand new only owner. As to why mine came with a matching spare alloy on 20's-I'm not sure, I just assumed that's the way it came from the factory, one of the main reasons why I question why the '24 is equipped with something that doesn't match. If my 08 spare came mounted on an 18" steelie I'd probably never have questioned this.
I understand that the difference in size is nominal and most likely won't cause any damage but I'm just shocked (again, running off of what is on my 08) that it's like this. Maybe I got lucky with my 08 and the dealership I bought it from for some reason changed it out, honestly no clue.

You're fine. Have you never seen the donut space saver spares on cars? Don't get too worked up on the diameter difference, Toyota has been making vehicles for a few years ;)

I have seen donut tires before. I always thought of that as being due to a space constraint. In this case it is just being cheap.
