I'm looking to completely rip out my JBL system and replace it with all aftermarket. The idatalink instructions are clear when you're replacing either the stock amp or head unit, but I'm not sure how the speaker portions of the harness should be wired, if at all. In all my other installs I've just run RCA's from the head unit to the amp, but I'm not so sure I can do that here. This is for 3rd gen. Anyone have any diagrams for this scenario?

Got an answer in another forum and just thought I'd share it in case anyone else needs it:

I know this is resurrecting a super old thread but I've not been able to find an answer and this came up while searching lol. In your install did you run new speaker wire to all the doors? Guessing you did since you referenced taping off the speaker wire connectors on the harness. Trying to figure out flashing my Maestro RR for a non-jbl truck that I've run all new speaker wire and an aftermarket amp with RCA's from the head unit.

I ran speaker wire from my amps directly to the door speakers on my 2020. The dash speakers are powered from the head unit harness. If I recall, I flashed mine without amp. @panicman or @1lowlife might remember what they did.

Excellent that's what I was hoping to hear! I pulled the dash corners and center speaker as I'm running components in the front with plans to eventually go fully active and replace the dash corners and center. For now I'll be running passive components with crossovers and a 5 channel. I'll take another crack at reflashing the Maestro again today and selecting the JBL option and turning off the keep factory amp option and report back. I was thinking this might be the fix in how the Meastro is telling the head unit in which outputs to use so hopefully it will work!

So I was able to just test it, still no sound. Flashed it as: with JBL, deselected the factory amp option. In your truck @Tundra234 do you remember if you had to loop signal at the factory amp location, or just pull the factory amp and tape those connectors off?

Dang. Yeah I tried it with both the amp plugged in and unplugged after reflashing to JBL and no factory amp. Guess I'll try reflashing to with JBL and with factory amp and see if that does the trick. Process of elimination there are only so many combinations to flash the Maestro RR to lol. I'd emailed Trail Grid Pro as well and am waiting on a response from them. I'm just getting antsy as everything is in and wired up, getting power as it should etc. the dang head unit just won't send out signal on the RCA outputs for whatever reason.

I just got off the phone with iDatalink's customer support. They said there's nothing on their side that would stop signal output on the RCA's. I've now tried the combinations while flashing:

with amplifier, factory amplifier toggled on at end
with amplifier, factory amplifier toggled off at end
with JBL, factory amplifier toggled on at end
with JBL, factory amplifier toggled off at end

I can't imagine going the no factory amp whatsoever option while flashing would work but at this rate, I can't figure out what would be prohibiting the RCA's from sending signal. I've triple checked all connections and still no luck :/

I have never had an issue with an RCA other than a cable going bad. Are you running one or two amps? I'm wondering if there is a setting in the radii but that seems abnormal.

Just one amp, a 5 channel JL Audio RD900/5. I know the amp is good as it worked perfectly when I pulled it out of my last truck. I'm using a brand new 6 channel RCA cable from Crutchfield. Wondering if I should attempt hooking up without the Maestro to see if that does anything. Banging my head against a wall as I figured I might have to reflash to get it to work but didn't think it would be this big of a PITA to get the head unit to output on the RCA's.

Found my issue. Nothing to do with RCA's or the Maestro. After going over all my connections again I decided to pull apart the deutsch connectors I was using. Realized that in pushing wires through the rubber grommets on the back, the pins weren't fully seating on the female plug/male pins. First time using them, feel like a total dumbass, but you live and you learn. Once I pulled the grommet back and threaded the wires through more, I was able to seat them without issue. Lesson learned for next time and as always verify your connections which I thought I'd done, but since those connectors are sealed I wasn't able to tell they hadn't seated and were getting pushed out when installing.

Glad you figured it out. I'm assuming you used those connectors instead of splices? I still need to tune mine since I changed my sub setup.

Yeah I used the deutsch connectors rather than splices or going straight to the crossovers so that down the line when I upgrade my amp I can quickly take out the whole amp rack, swap the amp, remove the crossovers and then use the connectors for the output of my new amp (rather than from my crossovers) to my speaker wire. I will say although they’re a bit spendy, the deutsch connectors really are nifty when installed correctly lol. They basically make any wiring connections diy-able as they’re super user friendly and they come in a ton of different numbers of wires, 2,3,4,8 etc.

Late to the party... I utilized all the factory wiring during my install. Sorry I missed the @!
