Frame rot

05 tundra with 122000 klm. Can you get a replacement cross member the rack and pinion bolts to. Frame can be welded but the cross member is gone.


Also is there still an ongoing frame recall on these trucks in Canada? Any help/info would be greatly appreciated. Tks

I was unaware there was a recall on the 05-06 models. I thought it was just 00-02/03.

You may want to look into www.autorust.com for a safe-t-cap to weld over those rusted out sections of the frame (not crossmember & assuming there’s no active recall).

I believe the crossmembers should still be available but you’d have to double check online via the parts.toyota.com website.

I think your frame is a bit too far gone, sorry. Where you have the truck supported on the frame in the 2nd picture, I'd be concerned about that steel giving way and the truck coming down if you're under it.

 

Yeah right now it's up for sale as a parts vehicle only.

Man, that's a shame. Not only because it's a newer year, but also because our Canuckistani friends in The Great North have had a hell of a time getting any dealerships up there to help, even with years that are supported.

Honestly, if I were you @maxim552, I'd start looking for a clean Regular Cab frame from south of the border to transplant into it. Otherwise, you're parting out. The frame support just isn't there, and not knowing how bad the metal is (it looks too far gone to me from those pics), I can't imagine fixing that. I don't know anyone crazy enough to even try, liability is far too high.
