All chrome trim on the drivers side is now gloss black. The peeling trim under the window is now flat black. I’m not doing anymore today. I’ll save the passenger side for another weekend. I’ll eventually debadge and also take some restorer to the faded black trim and mud flaps.

Replace the bumper skin. Only other option is to epoxy in a backing plate and fill with a flexible filler. But with how jagged that is, and knowing you gotta repaint anyway, you may as well just replace the skin.

Plastic welding. It’s a fairly involved process.

I have some damage on my bumper cover as well. I believe it's from the headlight bucket reflecting sunlight onto the cover. I'd probably sand down to smooth, clean and maybe add some body filler to level it, sand it smooth, then prime and paint.

You've gotta use steele wavy brads for that, though, and the stuff to install the right way is $$$

It’s not really a DIY job unless you’ve done a lot of it. Not something I’d attempt myself. Leave it to those who are more skilled at it.

Just finished installing the included backup cam for my dash cam mirror. I had to get an extension as the included video cable wasn't long enough. The company I bought it from on scAmazon never responded to my requests for a longer video cable. It's not even around on scAmazon anymore. Figures. Stupid pop up Chinesium sellers with retarded names. Lol.

I broke the screw retaining legs on the sill plate cover and now only the front most screw holds the trim plate down. Gonna see if I can find some plastic retainer clips to put into the square holes the screws for thru before I look for a sill cover replacement which considering it's a best gen first Gen, it'll probably cost $300 and only 3 were ever made. Lol

Update: Went to Lowe's for some clips to try and fix the sill plate trim and also to get a longer eye bolt for additional LSPV adjustment. I'm topped out on the stock one.

    You got it.
I've done two so far, separated by two oil changes. So I'll do a third (and hopefully last one for a while) in two more oil changes.

Really like this channel. Lots to learn about body work and painting. Re the repair he shows here, just recently used similar technique instead of replacing a 1G Taco front Mud Guard for $126.28 retail. Repaired a tear out on a mounting hole by using heat to melt, rejoin, and re-form it like he did here with the bumper, but of course no cosmetic fillers or paint needed to put it back into service.

I would do that for sure but I have not seen them as still available. I’ll keep looking but I guess maybe look at junk yards

so still new to me...2 weeks..unfortunately i have done several things today. I bought this from a friend who has owned 15 years....he has a "friend" that is a toyota wrench who works on the side to pay his rent to the previous owner. The repairs were crap. so what I did today.....put on a new tailgate handle, fixed the brake lights..not bulbs..fixed the door lock driver side, fixed windshield washer...needed a hose....fixed driver side headlight, he had tagged in pod lights to the high beam on driver side with a tap...which kept blowing fuse.
thing is , i feel sorry for the friend I bought this from...he is about as honest as it comes...he has been ripped off by "mechanic". When he sold it to me I took his word for the work done. supposedly in the past year had the front suspension rebuilt....all I see is new shocks and one new upper ball joint....had the brakes rebuilt...pads are near metal.
timing belt...by same wrench .....says asian..30k ago....now I dont trust
like I said, the owner i bought it from is an honest guy....everyone that know him has high respect....so I did not doubt his word when I drove it. drives great and I was in a hurry..and up here in alaska they sell fast, like same day
2002 access cab, 242k miles 4wd, almost no rust..$4500 to a "friend..me" had it listed at 6 and had offers. sight unseen within a half hour of posting..his girlfriend posted without her knowing he offered it to me .
