Today (yesterday) I decided to get rid of the chrome on my grill. I began by sanding it with 120 grit, washed and then primed. Next I sprayed the entire grill with gloss black and let dry 24hrs. The idea was to replace the chrome areas with gloss black while touching up the other areas with flat black. After 24 hours, I taped off the gloss black and sprayed the rest with the flat. I waited another two hours and removed the masking tape. That’s when I discovered that 24 hours was not long enough before masking off fresh paint. I do have adhesive lines in my gloss. When I get home today I will take rubbing compound to it to see if that gets rid of the adhesive marks. If not, I’ll try it all over again.

 

Took my starter wire from my Hewitt-Tech box and popped it in a wire loom because that purple wire was annoying my Routed it from the air filter around the firewall to the fuse box and now it's a bit more hidden.

 

Well, I just found out that the steering rack I was going to have replaced under warranty isn't under warranty because the other dealership used an aftermarket rack. So some of the rear suspension (hammer hangers, leaf pack) are going to have to wait.
But, glad you're liking the quality of ride with the fox. I'm excited when I can finally get mine mounted.

 

What the hell?! I bet they probably charged you OEM pricing too. What a shady shitshow. Too bad you can't dispute the charges...

Well i finished up a two day frusterating long as project yesterday. A landscaping truck lost control and totaled my Neighbors 05 DC. I Always admired how clean he kept it. Turned out he had 2.5 ADS , ECGS 4.30'S and icon UCA'S. ALL brand new less than 10k on suspension.

To my dismay, the front left wheel took a direct whack and the shock piston and uca were just slightly bent. I asked him if I could take anyparts off truck before Geico hauled it off and he said as long as I left it able to roll onto flatbed he was cool witg it and would help me wrench when he could.. ...I had 48 hours, it was Monday night. I have a ARB LOCKER , so I just wanted his front pumkin and rear ring gears.

I made a mad dash to Toyota, called my boys at Adrenaline offroad for advice but they were closed. Screw it, this was my chance. MONDAY 1630, I used my truck to pull his mangled baby into my godmother's neighbors back yard ( with lots of angry boomers staring)

1900 Monday i had his truck up on stands all four wheels off, started to inspect to make sure i was not wasting my time. All looked good out back, front pumkin was minty as he did core swap from ECGS.

Monday 0100- finally receive call back from friend who is yota master tech-28 years, he explained what challenges would be, told me i would probably need new arb air locker copper line and it could not be done in 48 hours. I explained i was devasted.

Tuesday 0645 ( no sleep) , yota tech justin said I would need more parts to make this work, off to crazy rays (pull it yard in bmore city, with engine hoist and all my tools, 3 large coffees down..24 hours to go...stole combo of parts of 03 Sequoia and 05 DC. Went by deslership, picked up all seals, ring bolts, shims, axle seals, tried calling ECGS
...LEFT ON hold...pulled around back, friendly old tech said, you will need this , this. That. Left him to $200 deposit he let me borrow his speciality tools.

Tuesday 1900- ( truck needs to be removed Wed 2pm) Get it together, my back is sore, old man back brace on, 2 tylenol.

I worked until 3pm Wed, tow truck was a hour late. Then i gave him a fifty, boom. Done, truck wiched on flatbed at 1630ish ( Neighbor was slightly concerned, but once tow truck driver spotted what was happening and cheered us on he was back in the mood.

Wednesday 1930- missed date with my girlfriend, slept for 14 hours. My hands were sore until today, huge shout out to Rich @ Toyota for helping me out with shimming verification and showing me how to make all this work together when honestly, mid morning Wednesday i could not recite alphabet.

Really drove it for first time yesterday to go to gym and try to fix my back and neck ( all work done on cobles with just 2 layers of cardboard boxes) .

No leakes. Highway rpm is totally fine, not bad, drained fluid this morning after a 300 mile trip to PA for work to look at boiler.

Finally, feeling normal, bags under eyes gone, back 90% normal. Teamwork makes dreamwork. Low range is true crawl mode with 4.30's-1300 RPM Maybe 3MPH (speedo is still off). 0-60- truck now rips off line, blows of both 32" MT Baja's where old gears would kinda just slightly scury. Overall, old stuff felt a hair to long. I think 4.30's are sweet spot for my 32's.

The previous owner had the rack replaced back in November. Had the same dealership that did the work take a look and they said it was under warranty. They said I could take it anywhere to get the work done. And got a solid "Denied" from the dealer I took it to.
Went ahead and ordered my new rack though from Olathe which was decently priced.

 

@BluegrapeVr6 Thats awesome, now you can sit back and admire your work and be glad you put in the effort and made it happen!

F yeah @BluegrapeVr6 , I dig it. Life is about these crazy challenges we make for ourselves, doesn’t really matter why, what matters is the memories and the attempts and perseverance to conquer.

 

Speaking of self imposed challenges, if you haven’t already heard me mention this, I have a long term goal to bench my marathon time. The self imposed rule is within one week as my lifetime max bench already far exceeds my marathon pr. Currently I’m running ok and I came within 10 lbs last year so it’s a matter of getting max bench strength back.

neighbor guy founded PRX performance and recently updated his rack to the latest model. I snagged an old one, same one I’ve used for our morning group workouts for 8 months. Managed to get it out of the truck and installed all on my own which was a cool challenge in and of itself since I didn’t have the box wrench so I left it fully assembled the whole time. Tundra rules at this stuff.

 

Finally got around to de-winterizing the camper. Had to wait till the blinkers were working. First time pulling the trailer with the Tundra. I can't say "it's like it's not even there", but compared to the Tacoma, it's a different world. Everything is better. And I love the backup camera.

Sumo Springs seem to be doing their job adequately.

 

Nice. My life has been very mobile the past several years so I've stuck with kettlebells, but squats and deadlifts are something I definitely plan on adding as soon as I'm more stationary.
