Funny to see this thread - was just complaining to myself about this - mainly that I couldn't add a year of extra service, there's only a monthly option to get nickled and dimed $15 / month. Very annoying...

I've never tested the maximum range, but my FOB remote start works fine at around 50 feet. That's good enough for my purposes.

    • Smartphone APP Phone Control=Start your car from your smartphone from anywhere in the world. First year of service is free, $39.99 each year after. 3x lock from OEM fob will work as well.
Is the $40/month just for the app and does not apply to using their fob? $350 is already a bit steep just to keep the truck running while entering the vehicle.

No idea, I didnt go that route...I got the 2k ft 2-way version and I still pay Toyota for the oem app functions

It does say $39.99 a year, so......

That's all I need as well, will the fob continue to work this way indefinitely? I'm looking at new Tundras, coming from a 3rd gen Tacoma that's how mine works. I never got the app and wouldn't get the app on a new truck. Thanks

Yes, the FOB remote start works without subscribing to the connected services. I never even activated the services for the free trial, just out of principle.

Along with other stuff I have to install, I'll be installing a computer 2way system. I don't think there's a way to make the OEM fob have any practical increased range.

I’m not % sure but if you have any of the connected services the key fob will still work. Not the app. Again not sure but heard it.

They key fob should work no matter you have services or not. I do not pay for any extra services and my OEM fob remote start still works. It's just limited to short distance that the fob communicates.

How long was the turnaround on the module? 2way is even farther than you thought. Site says 3k ft. I think my Compustar 2way is around there, 3000ft or 3500ft.

@eddiefromcali one last question for clarification: your accessorides installation was on a non-hybrid truck.... correct?

Going to give dronemobile a chance after my trial is up. I paid $140 for 3 years of cellphone remote start with my previous vehicles. My wife's RX has had it installed since 2020 with no problems. Only con, is the car shutdown upon opening the doors

That's a bummer. I like it not shutting off on me, specially during the summer when I open the door for my 7yr old and get her buckled in while the truck is running via r/s.

Tried mine for the first time since the update and my fob will not remote start my truck...standing right beside it, so not out of range and have done the process before, so I know the process.

FWIW, buy a sleeve of cr2032's. Good date brand name ones, not the out of date Amazon junk. I flip a calendar event for every 4 months. They always go out at night in an unlit parking lot.

We’ve got a blister pack of Duracells in the drawer…got tired of wondering if the loose ones in the drawer were good or bad when looking for a watch battery. Thanks for the suggestions.

CR2450 batteries are required for the 3rd gen. Tundra keyfob.

I didn't think remote start mattered too much to me, but I have to admit I used it a bunch on our month long vacation in SW Florida in May. Temps were unusually hot, with the heat index over 100 on several days. I hate getting all cleaned up to go out to dinner, then working up a sweat on the drive before the truck cools down. Being able to remote start from inside our rental house to cool the truck down 10 minutes before leaving was a blessing. I was using it from a second floor deck about 30-40 feet away from the truck, with no problems. Still using the original FOB battery from a 7/23 purchase date.

I wish the engine wouldn't shut off when you open the door, but I can live with that.

Remote start with my fob is only good for about 400’ away. As with most everyone else, I wish the range was better, but it is fine for my needs. It has worked the same before and after all updates.

How do you remote start with the factor fob?
