Wanting some more Bass (Bump to a JBL)

Wanting to add some more bump to my 1794. Any help will be appreciated.

Has anyone installed the micro amp (Encore) to their JBL system and how did you like it?

Anybody did a LOC system with an additional Sub? Will it override the original Toyota Sub and only pass through the new sub or will both play?

Totally new to this coming from a 3rd gen 4runner lol where subs was easier to install.

lots of happy Encore owners here. I was one of the first to get it and it wakes up the audio for sure. You just have to be realistic and know that its a basic plug and play amp and wont rattle your teeth but will provide a fuller sound.

 

Indeed there's no way it can match up to a dedicated 12" that I used to have but the current JBL is lacking for a "Premium system". How would you rate the encore on performance vs stock? @eddiefromcali

Anyone in the HTX area willing to let me listen in before going for one?

 

Its fuller, with a punchier bass all around....not just from the sub. My wife's Tesla still blows this JBL out of the water though. I have a good ear for audio systems as I came from a 4 way active setup with a bajillion hours of tuning with a Helix DSP...big ol 12in sub with 2k watt rms amp....dual batts, 300A DC Power alternator, etc, etc. I've had the shittiest audio (In my Chevy Cruze) to the full tilt audio in my Silverado....the Tundra's JBL is a good daily setup but does lack low end fill. The lil Encore helps...more noticeable with certain music for sure. I havent looked at splicing in a LOC since I would need a signal before the JBL amp and I havent ventured that deep into this thing yet.

 

I say a video on YouTube from Encore that they had a wire harness from them that plugs directly into the micro amp to give you signal for the LOC?

Wouldn't mind adding a slim sub or something behind the rear passenger seat. Issue is I have the Hybrid... No under seat storage

Maybe i was reading the comments incorrectly then. There was a comment from beat sonic saying to use the BH-10 wire harness to add a LOC?

 

Dont think I've seen that harness or a video about it.

This harness just t's off full signal so you can run it to an loc OR strait to an amp if it has high level inputs.

 

Any other ideas to get more bass out of the JBL sub? lol before i try the beat sonic amp.

 

I feel it needs a better crossover. It's not punching out bass rather it rumbles out. How to accomplish this I don't know other than a full rip

 

yea the current JBL sub is not even doing anything...

 

It's funny almost, I drive my truck and it sounds pretty good just doesn't really crank up...then I get in my old LS430 with JL Audio 10" HO W6 box and set of Focal Flax Components driven by a HD900 and hear all the separation and detail and there is no comparison...bought the Beatsonic Encore but haven't installed yet...the only thing I can see it actually doing is reducing the gain needed in the pre-amp. Your not going to get "better" anything without a more powerful amp and better speaker components...Focal does make an entry level Toyota stock replacement line that should provide more detail and there are plenty of sub and amp in a box solutions that could go under the rear seats on non-hybrid trucks. Might make a move at some point but the factory JBL system is tolerable. Stock sub is weak but does more than you realize...have to be careful with tone adjustments and certain songs will make the door speakers rattle and buzz a bit.
