    I'm looking at 2 sequoia's first
2016 with around 130k miles asking almost 30k. KBB says around 24k private party and NADA says around 28k from a dealer, nada has it around 25k for trade in. I think KBB was 22k for trade.

2nd 2018 with 70k miles asking 38k. NADA has it around 34k from a dealer and 29k for a trade in.

I usually like to see what carmax/carvana will offer on a trade in to see how much I'm about to lose right away but they "need to see the vehicle" to get a quote. These are both from private sellers so there is no warranty so am I wrong expected with the risk involved I should be paying less then a dealers price?

No you are not wrong expecting from a Private seller the lower end of which ever online pricing (use VIN for highest accuracy). Maybe not trade in value to a dealer but somewhere between that and the mid-point. I don't worry about a warranty - just a good drive and a good look under its skirt should tell you everything you need to know to make the call. When I go this route its not an overnight thing - often takes me 6 months to find just the right deal - nice vehicle - worn by a young light lady (no offense but i find they have less driver seat wear inflicted) and not too high miles price combo - ahhh.
