Which wire to cut: the silver one or the brown one?

So I need to make a decision between two ticking time bombs a.k.a. 2024 Tundras:

Silver 1794, TRD, with tonneau cover.
    Mesquite 1794, TRD, with bedliner.

The trucks are otherwise identical with similarly priced deals. But here's the kicker: the silver one I wanted but it is on a QC hold and expected to be released by the end of the month. The MB one gets here this weekend.

Which one to get? The one that was held up or the one that did not? I know everyone is expecting them to blow up, but which color makes the bigger bang when it goes off?

So the QC hold is immaterial one way or the other?

A 1794 Tundra is supposed to be mesquite

Ultimately, if you like the mesquite color, I'd say go for that one. Although, the silver would also match the engine glitter.

My intent with the thread was to help decide whether the QC hold means a double-checked-to-be-okay truck or a already-torn-apart-and-fixed truck.

You might have to pose that question to the seller. Silver looks cleaner longer.

Gotcha. QC holds are usually random quality checks for batches of vehicles. Nothing to worry about. That silver truck will likely have a little more attention to detail on it as far as build inspection goes.

I would've, but these are two different local dealers.

So a QC hold may be a good thing?

Yes, it's not bad at all. It just delays the vehicle a while.

I am in no rush since I have another vehicle to use in the meantime. Thank you for the reassurance.

If you enjoy washing your truck, get the mesquite. If your like me and hate washing your truck get the silver. I've probably washed my 08 Tundra 20 times in the 15 years I've owned it and it looks fine. Why I bought a white Tundra this time around is beyond me. If they made my trim level in silver I would have traveled 3,000 miles to get it.

Get both, you might be left with one to drive while the other is getting a rebuild.

Now THAT is an option I did not really consider. I will be sure to buy a lottery ticket today. Who knows, I might win enough to do exactly that. :D

Seriously though, both the trucks were built in early May. Presumably, that means that all components in the engine were produced after the fix for the fault had been instituted. Which brings me back to the QC hold good-or-bad thing I asked earlier.

I highly doubt the problem has been completely resolved. That said, not my money, do as you wish.

    Stop overthinking QC stuff.
Your Gen 3 will spend plenty of time getting warranty work to resolve any issues.
Get the color you want and make sure to get the longest extended warranty you can afford..
