I wasn't arguing, seems that way sometimes though, lol. Just like I described what went backwards, I have also asked what tech a SR5 has now that that my SR5 doesn't. And it's an honest question I have asked, I like to know things from people who have owned both gens. I have yet to see someone tell me what all this tech is.

As for the taco, been there done that. I had a 2017. Went to a taco for the right reasons but after owning 4 tundras, it's just not he same. So here I am back in a tundra. Honestly my 2020 won't last me, I get bored and have to switch but these prices are ridiculous for 1/2 tons. And it's not just Toyota, I call them all out. And like you, we will see what the reliability of this new gen is as far as all the tech and complexity of the new engine. The engine it self, I am sure will be great, it's just all the other electronics attached to it.

ok, I see thats different that what you said, you said less capable so I was thinking towing, hauling, etc.

but ya, Im with you, anything over about 7500-8500 is 3/4 ton or more for me

Yeah, I have said it before here. I own a 25' boat that weighs around 7-7200k loaded. My truck tows it, no problem. But you know it's there. It's not like some people say, I tow 10k with breeze. So towing at 60-65mph 7k and you have to perform in an emergency maneuver, your gonna have some stains. I had to pick my boat up about 200miles away with crazy FL drivers on the Turnpike. Not a fun trip.

I will say, you would be shocked at how much better this thing tows, if I was closer we could hook up your boat and give it a whirl, my boat is smaller but towing is much better in this truck. the auto leveling rear is super nice. not just pulling power but stability is much better.

Fair enough. That said, "worth it" is entirely subjective. I don't think a gallon of milk is worth $4.00, but if I want some that's what I have to pay...

Very true. My wants and needs have changed as I get older. I want more vacations and don't need a higher truck payment.

i would have loved to get my hands on a 2nd gen, but also wanted a crewmax with a 6.5 bed. So that was a no go with the second gen. Plus with a toddler and black lab, a crewmax was a must. Double cab on new gen is dumb, I will admit that. No one could fit back there not even kids, looks smaller than my Tacoma. I loved my Tacoma but taking trips with the family and a fully loaded bed, was no fun. Did multiple 10+ hour drives in that thing and it was not pleasant. I will say the new tundra cruises so much nicer than my Tacoma, no downshifting, no hesitation when passing, seating position is way better, and so much more room. I cannot compared to the second gen as I have never driven one, but I’m sure it would be just as comfy. I have read the 6 speed does a little gear hunting but can’t say for certain. I will say the radar cruise and lane keep assist could be taken away and never brought back and I’d be super happy hahah

nothing wrong with that at all, especially with a relatively newer truck at 2020.

Any full size is going to ride better than a tacoma, that's for sure. 6 speed on the 2nd gen tundra?. I live in Fl but I have been to northern states with high elevation 6-8000ft, and I haven't had an issue with gear hunting. Then again it was unloaded. Maybe loaded is different. As for the radar cruise, I love it on my tundra. My wife's previous Lexus had it all, it was fun to use. Her new Acura has it also, and I love using all those nannies for long trips.

6 speed on last gen does not gear hunt loaded or unloaded, and neither does the 10 speed on these, AISINs are legit

the only grip I have is on the last gen TACO, my god whomever programmed that should be shot and drowned in a river.

Eventually I have to move on. But, when I do move on, if I dont need a truck to tow, I think I am done with trucks. Moving to an SUV. So unless, its a 3rd gen Sequoia, which are even more ridiculous in price than the tundra, I dont think it will be a tundra. Which by the way does anyone know if the Tundra and Sequoia where always that far apart in price? WOW.

No need for violence. We all do mistakes now and then. Look at what the engineers did with the 3rd gen tundra. :boink:

they were, my 2016 platinum tundra was like 51 ish, my old mans platinums sequoia was like 10K+ more

I looked at the new gen one and they totally chucked up the cargo area with the hybrid BS so it was out for me, I did like the way they look though

ya not worth it, unless you have to have that 3rd row of seats.

hell my tundra back seat has everything , USBs , heated and cooled seats, built in window shades, etc. so back seat passengers are set.

Totally understand that. Mine have changed as well. The reason I got a Tundra was primarily for towing a travel trailer. If it wasn't for that, I'd still be happily driving my '05 4Runner. Wasn't looking to buy new but the price differential between used and new at the time (late 2021) was so small I sucked it up and went new. I hadn't had a car payment since 2010 so I was ok with that.

Good to know there is no gear hunting with the old V8 with the 6 speed. I thought I read a couple things on the forum about gear hunting. But no experience with the second gen so was just going by what I read. Now the Tacoma on the other hand, my 2017 was way worse than my 2021 but the 2021 definitely did it too. It is good to see we can move past our differences and all agree that regardless of generation the tundra is better than the Tacoma! Hahahha

Well I guess I asked about 2 months too soon.

Seems like the ongoing issues remain:
    - Plenty of bugs (some catastrophic) that need to be fixed.
    - Features that need to be changed/adjusted/added.
    - Price adjustments still slacking
