at least its not like the ford ranger recall on the recall for the air bag inflator. they did a recall on the air bag inflator and then had to another recall on the air bag inflator they installed to fix the first issue.

Recalls are only for safety items. They generally take a tremendous amount of time to actually get started since a full scale NTSB and NHTSA investigation must be completed. Don't forget the largest recall in history began in 1998 with reports from Honda and eventually included most major car manufacturers but was not actually started until 2013 - The Takata Airbag fiasco. A vehicle could have a thousand items that are complete engineered disasters but unless they are safety related a recall is not even considered.

P.S. = The 3rd Gen Tundra is the best truck. All other trucks bow in its presence. The front grill is amazing and pretty. The reliability is better the any Toyota ever built. All other trucks shake with fear in the presence of a 3rd Gen Tundra.

It's important to note there are different types of recalls and then the outliers like TSBs. There are mandatory safety recalls issued by the NHTSA, then manufacturer recalls which toyota refers to as "service campaigns" or "limited service campaigns" and TSBs which aren't recalls but they're essentially remedies to known, documented issues by toyota that are almost always free if under warranty and can be covered outside of warranties. The 21 Tacoma has no safety recalls, but they have some limited service campaigns as well as plenty of TSBs.

    from what i remember

recalls are mandated by nhtsa (and are primarily safety related)
service campaigns are toyota recalls (in house to resolve mostly safety issues before the stigma of a nhtsa recall)
tsb minor in house toyota recalls that dont affect safety mainly

just depends on how you classify a recall :)

New to the forum and this recall makes me sick to my stomach. Have purchased many Toyotas in the past with no issues and hundreds of thousands of miles. This defect will become catastrophic for all defective engines involved with or with complete failure due to premature wear and daily damage as any debri causes wear and begins the minute the engine starts. I have been in manufacturing for 40 plus years including many engine build ups, machining, tear downs and anything less than a new engine will eventually cause complete failure years down the road and during the life of our trucks. The discussion of rebuilds by the dealers is scary as how many folks are truly trained, certified, or experienced in building engines. I have a 2023 TRD Limited Off-road and will no longer trust it to get me back home. Sickening….. What happened to Toyota besides greed, loss of all quality control, engineering and manufacturing skills….

You might want to actually read the thread you are posting in. It's not about the engine. It's about the instrument cluster. You'll need to find a more current thread if you want to complain about the engine recall.

Sounds like it's time to sell and buy a Ram! Better get on that before your engine bricks.

Not trying to be a dick to a new member but damn dude... :deadhorse:
