    Hey there -

I have a 24 Tundra Limited with Steps and am a little bummed because there is spot just to the rear of the driver side door where the paint is chipping off. This may have happened when i went through the local car wash. Anyways - it seems to keep chipping bit by bit - esp when I get in and out of the truck. I live in a very rural part of Vermont so these steps are going to get dinged by a lot of rocks, mud, sticks, etc.

Does anyone have a suggestion on the type of paint to use or approach on covering this up?

Really appreciate it! Love the Tunny otherwise. : )

Doesnt seem like Toyota even put down a primer base, SMH. Anyways, since you said it going to get some beatings, I would look into doing like a bed liner coating. I used Rust-Oleum bed coating on any fiberglass tonneau cover because the paint was fading and the fiberglass was starting to show. No issues since I coated it.

nice - appreciate that. So would you put the Rust-Oleum bed coating on the spot first and then get some finish coat that will hopefully match the color of the steps? Or will the Rust-Oleum bed coating color look pretty close? I am worried about rust.

Those look aluminum. Are they? Me personally I would probably remove all the factory paint and the cover it with any bed coating product. But you would have to make sure it will stick to aluminum, if you step are in fact aluminum.

The aluminum won't rust, just be an eye sore. If you want a quick temp touch up, just hit the spot with a Scotch Brite pad and spray some flat or satin spray paint on it. Chances are, more will chip off in the future, until you have a chance to strip and bed line the whole step bars. The bed liner will be much more durable.
