I had a battery in the bed tip over and the acid ate through the paint in the bed in several ares. I removed the peeling paint and sanded the affected areas and decided to have Line X done to cover and protect the bare metal along with the rest of the bed.

Looking for recommendations as to what else I should do to prep for the spray on liner. Should I remove the bed rails or cargo hooks? Anything else?

Also, should the shop remove the bed bolts prior to spraying. Haven't gone with a spray in liner before so any tips on what to do or look for at the shop would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Pretty things
I would probably throw down some primer before dropping off for line-x, and make sure it's had time to cure properly. The installers should clean the bed VERY aggressively for proper installation. Maybe a quick call to see what THEY recommend. I would also remove all of the accessories and tie-downs.

Whoever the PO had do my bed liner removed the bed bolts (and everything else) before application. Haven't had the need to remove them yet, but I'm sure there will come a time when Im happy they are not covered in goop I have to cut off.

When dropping your truck off to get Line-X applied, talk to the rep about what is going to be removed or kept in place. Between the two of you, decide how to proceed and get it in writing (photos before and after can help). I've had two Tundras treated with Line-X and that is how things were done, no mysteries.

I removed the bed rails. Did not remove bed bolts, wanted them covered in line- x to protect them. If ever need removing I'll just dig out the material and drive torx bit in. Rail bolt holes left uncovered and just used a tap to clean threads afterwards.

Thanks for the replies. Plan to speak with the actual installers when I go in. The person who answers the phone is not particularly knowledgeable about the process.
