? the airstream? Dunno what it needs yet, but paint wouldnt hurt. Might have to patch or sew some 'tent', effin dave & brent have me looking at timbren axleless axles... call me crazy, but i think longbed tundra bedsides & taillights to make it a little less blocky.

gotta convert my truck to a 7-pin/4-pin combo, and fit a battery box/extra water tank OR stretch the neck & fit dirtbike ramps.

whats in the box up front? Too big for a gastank.

 

My impromptu homemade drop hitch. I couldn’t find anything with enough drop online, plus i needed something fast, so i fabbed it out of both 2” and 2.5” receiver stock and a random hitch with a 2” ball on it. I only needed it once, otherwise i would have built it stronger and designed it differently. I spent about an hour cutting and gluing it all together with random scrap that i had laying around.

 

Id be plowing asphalt in some of the road dips and parking lot entrances with that thing.

 

I like some tilt on my smaller utility trailer when loading the mower. Flattens the approach angle so I don’t drag the deck. 2” drop works great for that.

Hey guys, second gen owner here but I have the 4.7L along with the A750F; looking for your knowledge on this transmission... three years ago I had to throw a torque converter in it fur shuddering; all good after that until about half a year ago I started getting ever so slight shudders again, thought it was the tc going out again but I think I've come to the conclusion that its actually the valve body. Had a trouble code pretty much for the last couple months (P2757 with check engine, 4lo flashing, abs light). I was looking at the TransGo shift kit (SK A750-WTA here) but I also priced up a new valve body from Toyota at $977. Shift kit is about $170; from what I've been able to find this transmission has valve body problems? So with that being the case is it even worth messing with the TransGo kit? Could it be another problem like the wiring harness? Should I just get the valve body and call it a day? Or could the fluid just be slightly low throwing the code (it did leak some fluid out months ago through a bolt on the side of the trans, tightened the bolt and filled the trans back up but I suppose it could be slightly off)? Truck is at about 260k miles, I was gonna drain the trans and send the fluid off to Blackstone to get tested but at this point I'll do that once I pull the pan. What would y'all suggest with this transmissions known problems? Thank you


Edit: Every now and then especially when cold I do get a knocking noise that I haven't been able to narrow down but I believe its coming from the transmission, and sometimes only happens when in reverse and under throttle

Late response, but I had a 2010 and I liked it pretty well. Didn't love the esthetics of the body style, but liked all the rest. The 5.7 was nice. Even the "access cab" version or whatever its called in that gen was roomy in the back. I drove some 6'0" buddies in the back seat for 3-4 hours no problem. Bed was a good size. Not a bad truck at all.

 

I fabbed up both a front receiver hitch and that drop hitch in an afternoon. My sister was leaving the next day to head 400 miles south on a road trip. I sent her with a tow bar and tools to pick up a donor 2004 2wd tundra (that has a blown engine) for me. She never mentioned about the drop hitch grinding on the pavement, but then again i didn’t ask if it did or not. I had $0 into both the receiver and hitch, so i didn’t really care if it’s a one time use or not. Who knows, maybe at some point i’ll remodify then again for something else?

I see nothing wrong with that. Jackstand is there.

 

It's holding up the step. See how it's bowed up? And that tire is too far back to save your life if the step fails.

 

I’ve witnessed a kid using a high lift on the same point, he didn’t care for some reason……….. he was also high centered on the only big rock in the center of the trail with plenty of room to go one side or the other

 

When will they learn that running boards and steps and nerf bars aren't rock sliders?

 

Even the sliders I made for our 4R showed their weakness and I fixed the issue; to long of a span between outer tube braces. But they did their job

 

Yeah my BFF sliders bow a little when I lift the truck by them. It's because my buddy who welded the sliders forgot the weld in the gussets. I still have em. Eventually I'll get @VR6T to do it for me. Maybe once me and @Mr.bee are ready to tackle the 1" body lift

 

What I don't get to do body lift things....... Chopped liver

Okay. It looked to me like it was set back to lift the frame point there. Hard to tell.

 

Obviously you'll be around for that too. It would be the same days off. I just think B's house is better suited for the job. Plenty of even concrete. Or my house. Unless we did it in your culdesac.

 

So here's the thing, every job has its own tolerances. WhoDats slapped that jobbie together in an hour with what he had on hand. 10/10 for getting it done.

That being said insurance is easily my biggest expense every year (or month) and my policy expressly prohibits only a few things. Aircraft, Amusement rides, Cranes, Nuclear plants, towers greater than 100' in height and at the top of that list is trailer hitches
