There are two slots together they can use for the switch or change the light bar to a single slot because it is not a toggle.

Ya, it definitely doesn't look good with them out. But after sitting on them for a year, I finally put them on last summer because we took my truck on vacation and I didn't want 3 shorter people trying to climb in and out of my truck. I have scraped the boards twice so far. Luckily on painted wood. And then recently took them off and put back on so the dealer could get my truck on the lift so they could do the fuel line repair.

Well I just had Toyota install the power AMP running boards in my 2024 TRDPro hybrid with it hooked with a harness ODB port communication with the computer. Switch also installed for up, auto, down. Operation by the truck computer and not magnets or switches.

    For all nay sayers.

I apologize in advance for my questions, because I have been following this thread (OEM), the GoRhino and the one specifically about AMP Powersteps and am somewhat confused…did you have the dealer install the AMP power running boards (also known as Powersteps) or the Toyota OEM factory running boards? The AMP power running boards do receive control signals via the ODB port. The GoRhino power boards use magnets and the Toyota OEM running boards connect to the bus. I can’t tell for sure, but the logo on the step brackets in the picture sure look like AMP Research.

I have the AMP Powersteps installed with the 3-way switch installed that AMP provided. GoRhino power steps also has a switch. But the provided switches do not normally fit into the square switches in the panel. I’m sure someone could find a 3-way non bus switch that would work, but I haven’t seen one yet from one of the members or on FB.

So several of us are anxious to see how they did this for you.

Plugged into ODB. AMP step purchased by the Toyota dealer where I bought the truck. Switch round hole but square mount. Took time before it was approved to install on the hybrid Tundra is why it was installed today. $2,600 complete was a little pricy.
Love them now hopefully I will not bust my seat side this time.

Thanks for clearing that up. I too had to wait for 2024 release from AMP and I love my AMP PowerSteps and so does my wife. Enjoy your ride!

LEDs for the AMP PowerSteps are attached to small plates on the 4 motor/idler linkage brackets. AMP supplies the LEDs and connection to the Powersteps wiring harness so that they are controlled by the step action.

Did anyone find a canbus dummy plug to successfully remove the OEM Power Running Boards? I would like to remove the factory automatic running boards from my '24 platinum.

Have you try removing the boards controller?

I haven't done anything yet, just trying to get a plan together. However, I don't think I want to remove the board's controller as I would like to keep the power step at the tailgate.

Wanna part with some of the harness for the boards? Maybe the last foot or 2 that plugs in at the step.

They came with the kit, and double sided tape to under carriage as I didn’t want to bolt anything and make holes in a new truck.

I just wonder what the plug/harness connections look like to see if OEM are plug and play on some vehicles? Any one have pics from either the step or the harness?

AFAIK, they are not plug and play. I know of one guy on here that just cut the pigtails off on each side of the truck. I tried buying them but they didn't want to separate them. So that future buyer of the taken off steps have them. They're still gonna have to source the ECU and dash switch since they kept those to control the power bed step. I still have not made my harness. The main thing I don't have is,,, time.

Makes sense I was a little liberal with "plug and play" Didn't think about ECU but hoping switch and plugs were there on some models pre-wired and could make it happen. Kind of like the old A-trac hack on FJ Cruiser or the partial MTS hack on Tundra, just with a little extra hardware.

Did you ever figure out the wiring for the factory running boards. I just bought a set of factory running boards and have no clue how to wire them. I thought it would be way simpler than it is

I have diagrams from TIS, and mapped out what goes where. I've just not had time to mock up a harness. My shop stays filled with my cabinet business, so its hard to find space to do it also. Where did you buy the steps? Used or dealer? Did you get the dash switch and ECU for them?

Got part numbers that you ordered to make this all work? My buddy is a toyota tech, so i'll get him to do this for me too and bring him all the parts. Looks sweet!
