2010 might be the year Toyota changed the flange location for the driver’s side cat back connection. My 2008 definitely has the flange in a different location.

Yes, this is correct. 07-09 are the different drivers flange location.

@reywcms i saw SPD claims 35rwhp gain on supercharged trucks with the midpipes. Do you know anything about that testing and how it was attained, and if that was paired with their catback?

I’m assuming this is based on their extensive experience with boosted applications that run a similar system. I’d imagine it’d be the full system also seeing as I lost 1-1.5 psi.

Ch-ching. That's still way cheaper than a full header system from ARH.

I called the guys at SPD to discuss the midpipes option. I was really leaning towards the GESI cat option, but he steered me towards the standard 400 cell. Couple things I took away - they are made in America and have been torture tested up to 800-850hp. They have been seeing failures over that hp limit. The GESI option is superior but they have been seeing more check engine lights. I think @reywcms already mentioned this. Also, in case anyone is wondering, the midpipes option will bolt right up to any factory or factory replacement catback.

So is this the only “equal length” cat back system on the market for our Tundras?

I think I’m going to place an order for just the cat back for now. You still think it’s worth it just going with a cat back without the downpipe? I’m looking for performance improvement if possible, and better sound.

FWIW, DirtyDeeds has an equal length 3" race exhaust, but it doesn't work with the 38 gallon fuel tanks. The 38G tanks have an additional crossmember that interferes.

Equal length headers were always an argument in the Subaru world it seems. Unequal length gave the classic deep rumble, equal length was more raspy typical 4 cylinder sound but many say it makes more power. That was headers though. No idea what difference it makes on a catback. It may be like an X pipe, where if it’s placed too far back in the piping it doesn’t have the intended scavenging effect you think it does.

I actually want that glorious deep V8 sound. Hopefully the SPD cat back delivers. I was so used to my 2000 Tundra with headers and dual exhaust. My 2020 is too quiet! I want to hear and feel that V8. At the same time I don’t want annoying drone on the highway.

That is always my concern with exhaust system upgrades. Problem with sound is it is subjective and video audio compression doesn't always convey RL volumes and/or tones perfectly.
