Has anyone else run into the issue of your traction control kicking on randomly after a lift and bigger tires?

I installed the Rough County 3.5" lift and 35" Nitto Recon Grappler tires. My traction control will randomly kick on and start flashing and you can feel the brake grabbing the tire. It's when I'm going around certain corners and down hill mostly ‍♂️.

Has anyone else ran into this and if so, how do you fix it?

    Thanks.

    Bump.
    Anyone else?

I have a video I took with my iPhone showing it, but it says it has the wrong extension when I try to upload it.

Perhaps one of the wheel speed sensors got damaged

If it was damaged, wouldn't it be going off all the time? I don't know how exactly they work, but it's definitely only flashing when I go around a turn.
Thanks though! I'll have to the place that installed the lift and tires check them out.

On previous tundra's doing a ZPC (zero point calibration) was needed after lifting. Not sure if 3rd gen is same.

I can make mine flash for a second or two on a very sharp downhill turn that I should take slower.
    3” Readylift SST, 35/12.5r20
When I had my free remote app (expired) I looked and it showed a very harsh turn in the trip.
I can make it happen every time I take the one curve. I’m assuming I’m losing traction on one tire that is lifting.
Had it go off on ice the other day when a tire was spinning.

It is somewhat related to how harsh of a turn I'm making, but it's definitely not at an unsafe speed, and I've taken the corners faster before the new lift and tires and never had this issue.

I'm going within 5mph of the curve speed limit signs.

Wonder if the higher center of gravity has anything to do with it. The 35" tires also rotate at a different overall rate compared to factory 32" tires.

I have not. I've gotten the zero point calibration as suggested, but it's still happening.

I was thinking a recalibration of the tire size will help, but apparently there is no way to do that on the new tundra. ‍♂️

I will be putting that exact readylift on my truck sometime this week. Did anything happen with your Toyota saftey sense system with your readylift?

This is the lift I installed:

    https://www.roughcountry.com/product/configurable/toyota-suspension-lift-kit-70331c

My safety sense system still all functions correctly, but I did notice that the lane assist became extremely tight. Almost to the point where it was annoying. It seemed to be correcting within a much tighter lane. I expect this is because of way the lift affected the camera windows. Once I had the zero point calibration done, it was WAY better. But now I notice that it is looser than it was before the lift. The looseness is better then when it was too tight though.

The only real unexpected issue was with the traction control, but that may be more related to the bigger tires than the lift.

Thank you for your help. I have one last question.Who does the zero calibration for you.?

It should be the same for all Toyotas but maybe someone here can confirm if it’s still the same process as before. Here is a video

The Toyota dealer did the zero point calibration.

I don't believe it's something you can do yourself because it requires a retuning of the camera and safety sense systems

Did you have them do it for your Tundra? I have this going on with mine after an Eibach lift.

Yes, the dealer did a zero point calibration. It did not help with the traction control though. I'm still having issues.

It seems to mostly be on right hand turns and is worse going down hill... Go figure ‍♂️

I was wondering if maybe one of the abs sensors has a tight cable that is pulling, but they all seem to be ok to my compete novice eyes ‍♂️

If you find a solution, PLEASE let me know. It's very annoying!

You lost me at Rough Country.

Kidding aside, what are your alignment numbers? Do you have enough caster?

If it's happening on downhill turns the truck may be getting confused by the front wheels spinning at different speeds out of normal range for the VSC. With bigger tires and insufficient caster the computer could possibly throw a fault.

But this is just a guess. YRMV.

That's what I'm guessing for mine. I have some positive camber, as I didn't upgrade the UCA's yet. In the books to do next. I have the same issue as @DizzyZ (Sharp right with slight downhill).

A few... Definitely more than 2
I am putting my money on this being correct. I lifted my truck and I have noticeably more body roll through corners (37s also do not help this), it is not a scary amount and I'm not uncomfortable with it but it is more. Sharp right downhill as described would unload most of the weight on the right rear tire which them makes it spin if you try to give any power. Happens to me all the time in tight cornering as I am accelerating out of the corner. Only real solution is to stay out of the skinny pedal till the body rolls back down or activate the electronic LSD for me.

The one time I was actually freaked out by this, was going about 50 around a freeway interchange with a good curve and some wash boarding on the roadway surface... when shit starts clunking and the rear starts shimming while I'm surrounded by traffic it feels just a little different :anonymous:.

These Are the numbers from my alignment. I don't know if it will tell you anything or not, but I definitely appreciate the input!

    Level kit, rims and tires
Hi! I have had my 09 for about 6-7 years. I added level kit, rims and 35” mudders and never had the traction control problem. When I changed to the nitto ridge grappler tires that were just slightly smaller, I now have this same problem on hard right turns specifically downhill (like a fwy off-ramp). I just take the turns slower now. Funny thing is it doesn’t happen on left turns.
Just my 2 cents. I wouldn’t worry much about it.

I had a similar issue with Toyo Open Country M/T 295/75/18 tires on my 2007 Tundra. The truck felt like it was driving on jello all the time. I adjusted air pressure but still had traction and stability control issues. They completely went away when I switched to a different tire wheel combo. The Patagonia MT 37/12.5/17 on the Rock Warrior Wheel. I made no suspension or alignment changes.

I recommend trying a different tire to determine if the issue is caused by the suspension or the tire.
