    UPDATE:

Sorry I haven’t been posting, internship is kicking and I pretty much have stopped looking, but…

I am officially locking in with the 00’ white truck on Friday during my lunch break. Went and checked out the truck one last time since the seller invited me over to his house after work (met him at a Costco the first time). Met his wife and his dogs. Looks like the power steering leak he mentioned before seemed to be the other sellers giving him a run for his money, but there is a sway bar problem! But get this, he’s actually paying for the parts and giving them to me free of charge… He’s also throwing in a lot of free stuff with the truck, and he replaced some hoses that were leaking and at risk of leaking.

After talking with the seller some more, I think he really means well and wants the best for me. He said he’d even help me install the sway bar parts if I needed the help, and to call him if I have any problems with the truck. Obviously still going to keep my guard up at the DMV and check over the title, but I think everything is going to go well with the sale and I’m super super excited to drive it home Friday!

If everything goes well, next post from me will be pictures of me with my new baby and I’ll end the thread there! And if it doesn’t go well, then let the saga continue… lol.

And just like that… the saga is over!

    2000 Toyota Tundra 4WD Limited, White w/ 161,xxx miles. Purchased at 7.5k.

Thanks to everyone who helped me learn more about the first gen Tundra, what to look for, and help me find the perfect truck!

I will be posting a maintenance thread to keep track on what I do to the truck over the years. My plan is to keep it forever, so there will be a lot of posting there. I’ll be linking it sometime later once I get it together and take some more pictures. Glad I got to make some new internet friends who know a lot about trucks! :D

Whoo. Quite the process, and quite a nice looking truck!

Considering I paid $10k for 225,000 and a bit less shiny paint, seems like you did well.

Nice find Michael! Looks like you did your homework leading up to purchasing my 2000 Tundra Limited yesterday. I hope the truck serves you well in the coming years but until we get those sway bar links replaced, let me suggest you refrain from hitting the track at Daytona!:)

    Me either!

All we can do is speculate, so no hard feelings Ed! Thanks for making the sale super easy and painless. If the DMV didn't have issues with my insurance, it would've been even smoother!

No harm, no foul! Unfortunately there are too many unscrupulous folks online selling stuff. No offense taken. I was LMAO when I stumbled on this thread this morning…..I couldn’t believe it! :D I have been a member of Tundra Solutions for many years and only joined this group last month. It’s a great resource with a bunch of great folks that are always willing to help. In fact, I was going to suggest to you yesterday that you join one of the Tundra forums but you beat me to it. I’m looking forward to seeing what you do downstream to make it your truck. Post images when you get around to it!

That's a class seller. I'm pretty jaded after getting burned one too many times and skeptical of anything that sounds too good to be true these days. Stuff like this restores some of my faith in humanity.

If you start digging into audio and opt to ditch some items or simplify, like the door baffles for example, you've got a few of us on here who'd be interested. The install on the truck looks quality, I say that as someone who used to work at a shop an hour or so north of you. Not exactly how I would've done it, but some really nice gear, tasteful, looks properly wired, and looks great.

This “saga” doesn’t really seem like a saga. It seems more like a short story. It’s only been like a week and a half since you started posting hasn’t it ?

I know from recent experience that when you're in it, it sure feels like it. It became all-consuming for me for like two and a half weeks. Felt like forever.
