He does make a good point of the reliable 5.7 and how it's a great truck and cheap to replace engine when/if needed. Problem is, you can't buy a NEW one anymore.

It improves the overall clarity of all the speakers. There is separation between the mids & highs not present in stock configuration. The bass is marginally better. I believe the lack of improvement in bass reproduction stems from the terrible "sub" Toyota put in the truck. Also, disabling surround sound helps alot as well.

People like to fear monger I guess. This video proves nothing and the guy who posted it should have waited longer for more information before posting it. It’s easy to cherry pick what you want and put it into a video and let it go around the internet for anyone to watch but have no real world experience with the platform. It’s funny to me people will over blow this engine failure thing but won’t talk about the 3rd gen tundras that already have over 100k miles. Or the many owners that have had no issues with their tundras. Not to mention that the 3rd gen is setting record numbers in sales. When I see videos like this on my feed I just hit don’t recommend this channel and move on cause I know it’s going to be someone saying the same garbage over and over.

Someone probably already mentioned this, but when text come in you turn the volume up when its reading it out so then you can hear it better. lol. User error you blaming the truck for. Each thing has its own volume set for it but you have to adjust it when it happens. Trans is smooth, and if you wanted those extras you bought the wrong model.

Meh, bullsh*t; I can post my '22 TRD Offroad VIN and build paperwork from Jan/Feb '22. The reason I found and joined this forum was the Gen 3 Tundra.
Ultimately I rejected that build, never have regretted that.

Someday the fit, finish and engine issues will be resolved and I look forward to that day.

I'm a 1st Gen owner and I already know my reason for not wanting to buy a new truck, there's nothing on a new truck that's cooler than not having a monthly payment.

I've found that the vehicle doesn't matter, its how you get treated by your service department. I had a Dodge Ram (I think an 04) where sometimes the turn signal wouldn't work. Brought it to the dealer's attention at least three times in my first 3 years (warranty). They said nothing is wrong. Year 4 of ownership, now they say the switch is bad - $350 to fix. Had to get Chrysler involved to get it fixed under warranty.

Had a Jeep Wrangler with bad wiring to the rear bumper sensors. Had to trade it in because the dealer just couldn't fix it and Jeep gave little to no support.

Toyota bends over backwards to fix what's wrong - sometimes whether its their fault or not - if I've got an issue, I'm not going to get the run around.

Bottom line is I know my 24 Tundra will have issues - issues that Toyota hasn't addressed or maybe even know about yet - but I know they won't leave me hanging in the wind which is why I'll go buy another Toyota when I'm done with this one.

I loved my Gen 2's, but although they're reliable and great and all the Gen 3's are good too - and you've got to keep moving forward - not backwards. You don't get any better that way.

I'm not that sure. Maybe I'm spoiled by a better experience with Volvo, but Toyota is not anywhere near in terms of customer treatment. Poor quality of job, poor communications, not transparent at all. I know, by most part it is very dependent on the dealer, but all 4 or 5 Volvo dealers I've used in years were faring equally well. And all of this was on a cheaper vehicle than Toyota. In 2 out of 4 Toyota dealers I saw I wanted to punch faces. Fsck all dealers, in fact.

I’ve never been to the service department. :notsure:
This is what makes me a bit salty at Toyota with the 3rd gen. They went backwards with some things: cabin size, visibility, maneuverability, axle rating, articulation, longevity (this is the biggest one, and while hard data remains to be seen, it’s safe to say that turbo’d smaller displacement engines are generally not as long-lived as NA larger displacement engines). It’s not even all Toyota’s fault; they are merely playing the hand they are dealt by the regulators.

It just sucks because FOR ME PERSONALLY (felt the need to emphasize this lol) the value add of +3 mpg and 200 lb more payload is not worth the previously mentioned value loss and added complexity.

It used to be enough to sell a pile of Priuses that would offset the big, inefficient, under-stressed trucks and SUVs. Not anymore. Gotta squeeze a few more MPGs out of everything in the fleet. (As an aside: just wait, this is coming for the domestic HD gassers as well, especially as the EV sales that are supposed to offset said HD trucks do not materialize)

If your primary concern is how you’re treated under warranty, then find the absolute best dealer service center you can in your area, and buy a truck from them, no matter what brand.

Historically, for most Toyota fans, the primary value is longevity PERIOD and how long we can keep from going back to the dealer. I mean, come on—Toyota generally gets SPANKED by other automakers in just about every other metric.

Anyway, time at the dealer—especially if you’re arguing back and forth about them not being able to “recreate the problem” is time lost. And time is something none of us can store up.

O brother, I think you have this ready to copy and paste at this point.:lalala:

they also went forward on a lot of things, I have listed them before, I won't bore you again.

you have a whopping 63K miles, come back when you actually obtain this magical guaranteed 300K with no issues on the 2.5 gen you are always stating as gospel that will occur.

like I said before, shit happens, and why live in a world where all we talk about it a perception of the future because thats all this is.

how many miles is considered reliable anyway, 200K. 500K?

as far as toyota getting spanked by the others except for QDR, I beg to differ, I tested them all and the tundra was the best, so it works both ways for people.

It's not about "when", it's about "where". If "where" for you is somewhere in close proximity of tow truck then you'll be fine, nothing to worry about.

I got lucky with my 2.5 gen crap out, it was in my garage, lol. can't get any luckier than that right?

so so far my ram and this 3rd gen are winning the QDR war against the 2.5 gen tundra, my 2016 anyways, my 2010 DC limited didnt have any big ones that I remember.

I agree as far as comfort stuff, aesthetics and user interface in the cab, but basic functionality of advertised options should be pretty well ironed-out if the truck is in production. OP mentioned the 360 cameras, if Toyota can't refine them enough to at least function, they should leave the feature off. And a lot of the features are not optional, they come with the truck whether you want them or not and whether they work or not.

Tech-wise it is essentially what Toyota sells you now, but 30 years ago. Well, 30 years ago was still better. Like intake manifold is all metal, turbo is not a part of exhaust manifold, cooling system is largely contained to the block and the head, starter replacement is 20 minutes, alternator - under 1 hour, timing and water pump under 2 hours. I.e. it is both long lasting and repairable.

If you enjoy how turbo Toyota drives and handles, you will enjoy how old turbo Volvo drives and handles.

I told it many times, and I think it was you. 0.5% is not much, until you're a part of the statistics. When it did fail on you, it is 100%, and you'll never forget it. I'm sure your bad luck was like, I don't know, 0.00005% maybe? But for you personally it was 100%.
