I just installed a new valve body in my 2007 Toyota Tundra (5.7L 2WD). Near completion and realized a difference in the casting. The new casting has only one hole drilled out for a temperature sensor; my old casting had two. I have two sensors. As far as I can tell, everything else seems identical. I found another site that lists this casting and specifies 1 sensor (didn't see this before). Does anybody know if this is the only difference in these castings? Can I simply drill the hole to accommodate the second sensor?

In my old casting, the top hole circled in red is drilled out and matches the second hole circled in red.

No you can’t just make a hole, It needs to be the same casting number of your original valve body, otherwise it won’t go on reverse or it won’t run in drive.

If memory serves, there are two different castings as @zparr2223 said: the tundra requires the casting with two sensors. I *think* the wrong casting will physically bolt in and function, but the second temperature sensor would obviously be left hanging. There may be some thermal management issues with ECU not getting a proper reading on the second sensor. For example, the ECU changes shift points and converter lockup depending on transmission and coolant temps, so I don't know how or if that would affect driveability. I know you can install a two-sensor unit in place of a one-sensor unit by blocking off the second sensor hole.
