This is an example of how rock bottom for some is different than those in the throws of addiction. You would think one's family, especially children, would be enough to wake up and make changes. I have had days in my life where I too chose drugs and alcohol, but never over my family or a job. It's a tough road that you have to want to travel if you want to beat addiction. Self awareness, accountability and being true to oneself is required. And that's why a lot of addicts don't chose to travel upon it.

Exactly. Cars are cars, trucks are trucks, Jeeps are Jeeps. Nature’s law.

And Mavericks and Ridgelines should be outlawed.

I'd consider a Ridgeline if my Taco got totalled. :anonymous:

    1. I don't buy used.
    2. I don't want an anemic 4 cylinder that needs turbos to just be adequate.
    3. I dont like the interior of the Frontier after spending over 25 hours driving one across the country.
    4. I don't want or need a HD, full size trucks should have a V8, and I won't buy chevy.
What options do I have for a truck?

I mean, do you need a virgin for a girlfriend? What's wrong with a pre-loved 2.5 gen Tundra?

I have shit luck. Every pre-owned vehicle I've bought has caused problems and not been worth the aggravation.

My 22 Frontier has Zero Gravity seats standard. Very comfortable to me. Totally resigned interior starting with the 3 gen rollout. My 09 Tacoma caused me all kinds of left arm issues. Elbow numbness that was a real pain. My elbow was messed up for weeks after driving up to Anchorage and the same issue coming back down. The cab was just too cramped. A lot more pleasant drive now going long distance. At least for me. As soon as I got back from Anchorage in August of 2012, I traded in my Tacoma for my 07 Tundra. Literally the next day. Ha!

3rd Gen Tundra. Fuck the V8. The V6 has more power and torque.

You know the worst of it Jay,
I think she would rather be in prison than be a Mom.
A roof over her head, she's fed, she doesn't have to work, and now she's in a 'nicer' jail cell than she had in county in Texas.
In county she wouldn't see outside for months, she shared a room with 12 other women, and she had crappy food.
Texas transferred her to a federal prison in Illinois.
In the Illinois prison, she has a room with a window, she brags to my sister how one night they had tilapia, one night they had lasagna, and she gets to outside every day..

That (unt is living and eating better than her kids on their state money and what my sister can afford..

Enough Debbie Downer on that topic, on to better topics.

A Ridgeline isn’t a truck. It’s a Pilot with the roof cut off. So listing it as a solution to your Get Off My Lawn - Truck Edition is counterintuitive.

Yeah, a terrible situation if that's her mentality. I pray for her children and your sister. Definitely let's move on from this topic.

Look, I like a big V8 as much as the next red blooded American. However, one cannot argue with the numbers. More power, more torque, more better.

I do want a Landcruiser 60 series with a LS swap though...

I was surprised when I left the trades and went into engineering at how much technical writing was required. You did the calculations on two sheets of paper and then had to write four to explain them. And there was white papers. When I advanced enough to get in the proposal process it got even worse. I've spent probably 80% of my time the last two months reviewing proposals for technical content as well as spelling, grammar and active vs passive statements. And my day job is chief engineer and program manager responsible for finances.

Yep. It has more power and torque. More points of failure, too.

An F1 car has loads more power and torque in its tiny little engine, but the trade off is that it needs a rebuild or replacement every 1000-1500 miles. The old 5.7 was a 400K mile motor all day long, with several instances of them going further. It remains to be seen if that smaller engine in a 3rd gen is going to be a 400K engine or a 150K engine.

If I had a choice between a 2.5 gen V8 truck with 20K miles or a brand new 3rd gen, I'm buying used all day long.

I've bought used vehicles since my first owned motorcycle. The only brand new one I bought was a 2005 Kawasaki klr. And I crashed that in Guatemala and had to leave it behind when I flew home for surgery. Never to be seen again.

That's a bummer about the KLR.

I've got a brother who always gets smoking deals on great used vehicles. He has all the luck. I've had repeated lemons. Just the way it goes.

My 22 Frontier is the first new 4X4 since I bought my new 75 F-150 that got T-boned. Bought a 76 Bronco with the 302. Damn, I wish I hung on to that. They go for a small fortune now in decent condition for a good reason. SMH everytime I see what they sell for on Hemming's auctions. F**k!

It was a bummer but not really. I had paid for a supplementary travel insurance policy before I left. It took forever but I eventually got the insurance company to pay me out on it because it was considered stolen. I bought my 2004 KTM 950 with that payout. Best bike I ever owner. Have you gotten your new ride out much yet?
