    I'm not sure why so many people call it a "hot water heater". Why would you need to heat hot water?
    I usually call it a hot water tank, or just a water heater.

    This is one that pisses me off when people correct someone who says "hot water heater". Say you have it set to 125 and it drops to 120. The heat will turn on to raise the temp back to 125, but the water in the tank is already at 120, which I would call hot water. Thus, it is a hot water heater.
