2024 4x4 tundra in the shop 6 weeks for engine - 20k miles and it’s leaking oil into cylinder 5. Had been taking it in to dealer who couldn’t find a reason for power losses intermittently while driving.

Do you mean coolant from a blown head gasket?

I can only tell you what the dealer said. So Apparently Toyota dealer doesn’t know or want to say. That’s what I got.
Kept losing power, took it in during an episode, they can’t find “anything” after a couple days of looking at at.
They pull what the ER does - “we advise you to just leave it here” (at my expense and find another car to drive, until it happens for one of them over a weeks time) (while sitting in the parking lot).
Once it would barely drive, they figured it out.
Took them 3 days to diagnose it.
Brand new. Started around 18k miles.
In the shop for 6 weeks.
    Obviously a manufacturing problem.

55yo male in construction and automotive for 30 years and only drove silverados until these Toyota company trucks, so I have no idea.
Had a Tacoma the first 2 years, uncomfortable truck (I’m 6’2”) but never a mechanical issue.
    this Tundra just quits.
They’re taking it apart and putting it back together over the next 6 weeks.
And gave me a Nissan altima to haul supplies to the work site.
Guess I won’t be hauling more than a box of nails.

@ryanwgregg This sounds different than the typical engine issue, no?

^ yes. This sounds like a piston ring or cylinder wall issue if oil is truly getting in the combustion chamber.

Yes that is what I said but it would not stop, once that metal ring is broke, it stays broken. Versus intermittent instances.

I’ll keep posting updates as I get them. Perhaps when I get some documentation I can upload as well. Thankful for the or input. It’s unfortunate, but at least it’s a company vehicle, each of us are grateful to have them provided each year. If it’s a problem, I would want to know nonetheless. Kind of scary driving along on the highway and losing ability to accelerate. Also kept giving messages that brakes may fail. Very odd.

been there and it’s terrifying… I was in an underpowered Nissan rouge company car about 13 years ago that would go into limp mode randomly with no rhyme or reason, but usually while trying to pass a semi truck on a 2 lane rural highway- lots of brown stains

Sucks to have this kind of problem on a new truck.
