The shop that I sent my template to made a CAD file and cut it out of 11ga steel, (pretty close to 1/8”). I wasn’t sure if it would be strong enough but once I got some cut I realized it was more then sufficient for the purpose.

Making the template just took time with the cooler and mounts, cardboard, the grill off, and a tape measure. Now that the CAD file is done the hard work is completed.

I don’t think that anyone who has installed one isn’t happy with the results.

I order all these parts to have a trans cooler.

Now for the thermostat, I ordered that from Toyota. Without the thermostat and fluid, I spent about $70 total. Not once, since the install, have I passed 210 and under load. Once it reaches 210, it drops down to 190-180 and then the cycle repeats itself.

In the 1st and 2nd photo, you can see item #1. I had to use the brackets and washers so that the oil cooler wasn't twisted or torqued when finally mounted. I used the already existing center support structure as a mounting point.
In the 3rd photo, you see item #2 and #3 with the cooler and rubber grommets. I used the grommets because if I didn't, the hoses would have chafed against the plastic wind deflector or whatever it's called.

Between the cooler and the bracket on the left, I had to use some clear plastic vinyl hose to eliminate the metal on metal chasfing which lead to some oil seepage. Once I installed it, the seepage stopped. I just picked it up at Home Depot.

I attached the photo of my truck so you can see what the cooler is capable of.

I like seeing various ways of getting things done. I contemplated doing something similar, I decided to make a bracket that supports the entire cooler and not use the cooler itself as a mount to reduce and flex. The flex may not be an issue, I just didn’t want to introduce any problems if I could avoid it.

Lots of creative people on here willing to help each other.

    Forgive my ignorance.
Why do we add the thermostat and where?
I understand how a thermostat works.
Are we trying to get the tranny up to temp then opening thermostat?
In any case where do I add that puppy?
    Part number?
Thanks in advance yall have been super helpful. Just ordered the majority of parts. Will make my own brackets

    I have 2020 TRD PRO
Was doing some parts research to get best prices.
Local dealer says to get part 33490-34010
    ($367.12)For the transmission cooler part.
It is significantly more expensive than
    32970-34030 what yall have posted.
    ($206.28)
Do yall know the difference and fitment?
Just wanting to verify before I pull the trigger.

He’s trying to sell you the “warmer puck”. Since these years didn’t come with the thermostat it may confuse him when you ask for a thermostat. I will post up in a little bit what I used for OEM parts. I found Fred Anderson Toyota to be the cheapest online at the time and much cheaper than my local dealer, it was free shipping as well. They may or may not offer free shipping still.

Local dealer is trying to sell you what the 2020 already has (replacement). What is required for a cooler is the cheaper part, which has had its description updated to reflect its fitment for 08-21.

These are the OEM parts I used. Beyond that I used misc hardware linked in the thread, hose (linked), the cooler and mounting brackets. That’s pretty much it.

Take note you will need (2) flange bolts and (8) clamps.

Here is the bracket I designed to mount a Setrab 920 oil cooler. Its been on my truck for about 12,000 miles. SendCutSend will make one for $40-$50 out of steel depending on the thickness. You could also opt for Aluminum or SS. Mine was cut from .100" mild steel. I'd recommend going a little thicker than that.

SOLIDWORKS file should be attached to this post. The site won't let me upload a STEP file, which is annoying. Feel free to use it, but I make no guarantees about form, fit, or function. Use at your own risk.

    Parts needed:
    Setrab mounts 23-MPSTD-UB1-9
    Setrab 50-920-7612
Setrab M22 to -6 PL Hose Fittings
M8, M6 hardware, and a ~10mm spacer (Don't remember the specifics, McMaster Carr has everything you would need)

OEM Toyota parts and some Gates 3/8 ATF hose as well

It’s good to see another idea for the mount. I know it took me some time with a tape measure and some cardboard to sketch up what I wanted. How thick are the sides that connect the top to bottom, I know photos make it hard to get a scale reference.

I did consider using the bolt/mount for the condenser that is directly behind the bracket in the middle at the top. Just would need to make a tab at the top and bend 90 degrees and figure out the attachment point.

What I call my V1 mount is what you see in the pictures and is also on my truck. The sides are .250" wide.

V2 is attached to my post, which I intend to eventually put on my truck. I wanted to have the mount remade out of thicker sheet metal, but realized it was not really necessary so it went to the back burner. I will probably end up swapping it when I take the front of the truck apart to install my ARB bumper. I just hate removing the grille on these trucks, I always feel like something will break. On V2, I made the sides .375" and the bottom mounting hole is a slot to help with keeping it vertically aligned.

Yeah, there a several way to do it. Really just depends on how much time you want to spend on the measuring and design. I made up this mount because at the time Genuine Cooling Systems was only offering the Hayden cooler and I prefer/trust Setrab for this kind of stuff.

sorry, been lurking here but that file worked!

a quick estimate on sendcutsend is about $60 before shipping for 1, using cold rolled steel at .188". It drops down to about $37 each for an order of 2, and $29.44 each for 10... anyone interestd in maybe a group buy?

That’s a great price for a bracket, the Setrab mouthing kit used is more economical then the full length mount I used. @pman9003 did what looks to be a great job. The few extra brackets I had made were costing me around $25 each to get powder coated locally, plus the cost of the bracket itself, and shipping.

That’s a huge to help to have the file, all everyone needs to do is source the OEM parts and some other small things and you can a great way to add a cooler and save money.

I’ll have to dig around for some installed photos, I know I took some.

I don’t have any more brackets, the few that I had are gone. If anyone wants to piece together their own kit look at getting the bracket @pman9003 posted made, he did the hard work for everyone.

Are the (2) flange bolts 90080-10400 the two fasteners used to bolt up the OEM hard lines?

    Don't go there. Lol

Per Toyota, for setting the fluid level, yes. Per Toyota, for everything else, no.

@pman9003 thanks so much for this info and the CAD file. I just ordered a bracket from SendCutSend. Question for you, which hose fittings did you use? 0* or some angle to them?

    Yes.
Not even sure what temp the thermostat is supposed to open.
I live in California so not super concerned about being too cold.

Someone else with more info will correct me, but I think the thermostat opens around 187 degrees.
